A Personal Reflection; 2014 in Photos, New Year's Resolutions and More...

Instead of doing a 'my most popular posts of 2014' post, I thought I'd do a timeline of my year - the things I feel I've achieved, the places I've visited, the food I've eaten (all with clickable links too so if you missed those posts, you can catch up on them!) I've literally had the time of my life this year, obviously I've had ups and downs but I really think we should celebrate this year, after all, rainy days make flowers anyway so who cares. Let's move into the new year remembering the best parts of 2014, my recent personal posts went down really well too (thank you for the lovely comments) so I've added in a little personal chat and obviously as promised, we're talking about new years resolutions too... grab a hot chocolate and say hello to 2015 with me...

I ate lots of delicious meat (my love for steak truly began in 2014)

I visited Vietnam in collaboration with Malaysian Airlines

I cycled through Ninh Binh and retreated in our fabulous log cabin

I ate in the best restaurant in Hanoi and lived on noodles for quite some time

Sat on the front row at London Fashion Week (and finally got to meet the lovely Sammi from BeautyCrush - if we didn't sit together we may have never met! Very grateful I got to meet this lovely, genuine girl!)

I consumed food at a one of the world's first 'chocolate' restaurants, Roast + Conch

I plucked up the courage to start doing outfit posts

My video was played on a German TV show!

I raised money for charity and debated about the no make up selfie controversy.

I decided to take my fitness more seriously (I even wrote about my gym routine)

I collaborated with some amazing brands, including Deichmann, Sure, O2, Malaysian Airlines, Herbal Essences, Wildfox, Color XXL, Calvin Klein and many more (I feel so grateful).

I worked with ASOS on their back to school campaign

I had the best cocktail of my life in Australasia

I went to an exciting Benefit launch event and some other amazing events where I met blogger friends for life

I decided to choose happiness

I had the best Summer of my life (with the best people)

I consumed enough brunch to last me for the rest of my life

I opened up about my University life and mistakes

I visited Greece

I got sent on an adventure around Paris with O2

I had the time of my life in Montego Bay, Jamaica (it was very nice having a natural tan for so long too!)

I finally got my brows done by a Benefit brow expert and spent the world cup in the girliest way possible...

Ate too many ice creams (I'm convinced 2015 is the year I will turn into an ice cream)

Fell in love with England (beauty is often right underneath your nose!)

Made home-made healthy pizzas and ate way too many of them

Interviewed the YouTube queens, Sam and Nic from Pixiwoo

Decided to defer University and jump on a plane alone to the other side of the world (it was so scary)

Arrived in Montreal and finally found my feet in a new city (I even stuck around until the weather got pretty bad, to the extent where they had to defrost the plane I was on!!!)

I enjoyed a week of non-stop partying in Montreal (I actually relaxed for once in my life)

Visited New York City and fell off my bike in Central Park

I did a food tour around Brooklyn and Queens and had the best pizza in New York City

I visited Toronto, Niagara Falls, Vermont, Mont Tremblant, Boston, Washington D.C and many more...

I ate way too many burgers and finally tried FiveGuys, Shake Shack, Byron Burger and Almost Famous! (I think I can tick trying the best burgers off my list now)

I booked a last minute trip to Cuba and had the time of my life

I tried my first ever vegan meal and gosh it was amazing

Flew back to London just in time for Christmas and left the delights of D.C, NY and MTL behind

I turned 21!

A few more things from 2014:

I had a huge personal rant (much needed)
I played in the Canadian snow
I did Black Friday (the best retail therapy ever)
I caught up with some of my favourite ladies and made friendships I'll never forget
I won the Sir Peter Thompson award for enterprise
I won an award for the business plan of the year
I featured in lots of amazing exciting print publications, online and radio (very grateful!)
I worked at the BBC
I properly launched my online store, LVNDR!
I most definitely grew up!

So many things didn't make it onto that list (2014 wasn't just about eating, giggling and travelling - I grew up as a person, learnt more about life and so much more... we will keep that for another day though!)

new year quote

It's been a truly incredible year, I can't wait to see what 2015 holds. I think it's really important to look back and reflect, we often just think about the negative things rather than the positives and I think it's important to celebrate positive moments! I couldn't have done it without my lovely readers, my supportive friends and my family. I didn't write this blog post to boast or show off, actually, lots of the things on my list are either little things which really mattered to me (gobbling too much ice cream with my favourite people!) proving that it's truly the little things in life which leave lasting impressions, but also, I wanted to publish this to show people that no matter what has happened in your life (read my how to battle pressure, stress and worry post to find out a little bit about my story), you are the driving force of your life, you are in control and you know what? With hard work, perseverance and passion, anything is possible. I've learnt not to let bullies, abusers or controlling people get in the way of my dreams. As Walt Disney said, no dream is too big, so please, chase your dreams this year, it's only yourself holding you back. You can do anything you put your mind to! I want 2015 to be a positive year, full of success, happiness and good health (for all of us!) I want to travel, make exciting new friendships, continue to make new memories with my oldest friends, make my family proud, work harder than I've ever worked before and so much more!

new years resolutions

Here are my resolutions:

- Take up yoga properly - I need to take more 'me' time, I rarely relax and I've always loved the idea of yoga.

- Drink more water - come on, we all know how good it is for us!

- Read more books - I really miss reading and I want to learn new things, mainly, I want to learn more about fitness, nutrition and skincare - very random topics but I am so passionate and interested in them so I want to educate myself more.

- Take more time when taking photographs - I really want to make my blog better, I want to produce better content, more often, if you have an idea for me, please let me know what you'd like me to cover this year!

- Really focus on YouTube - I am in a place now where I'm not scared of YouTube anymore, I'm really ready to give it a go. Please click here to subscribe! Your support means the world to me.

- No Mcdonalds for a whole year! - I basically just want to get back to healthy me, and I want to challenge myself to have zero Mcdonalds - who needs that anyway?

- Take more time to relax - I really need to just have more me time, more time with my family, more time without my phone, without my laptop, without my camera. I am a total workaholic and I am going to exhaust myself if I don't slow down sometimes!

- Stop trying to please everyone - You know what? I really learnt in 2014 that people change, people grow apart, people aren't always going to be who you thought they were - I've realised that you will never be able to please everybody!

Thank you so much for reading, thank you so much for your continued support and I wish you all the happiest new year. I love you all, yes you, reading this now! Please do tell me your highlights of 2014, your resolutions and about your Christmas! I can't wait to hear about how you envisage your 2015 to be...

Lots of love, Em x
