What I Heart This Month

Every week I seem to fall in love with something new, I haven't done any monthly favourite posts for a while so I thought now was the time to finally do one, I've had a few months off from these posts so I really have condensed this down to some of the things that I'm hearting the most at the moment. I've started to do regular 'What's In My Make Up Bag' posts in which I tell you all about my favourite beauty products of the month but this one gives me the chance to talk to you about my favourite accessories, candles and more.  Some of the items in question have been in my life for quite some time now so it really does prove that they're epic products...

Afternoon Tea At The Radisson Blu Hotel

When Radisson Blu hotel contacted me with some information about their Afternoon Tea, I knew that it was the perfect opportunity to get together with two of the most important people in my life. Life is crazy at the moment, deadlines are fast approaching (second year is quite frankly disgusting), the blogging world is as exciting as ever and often, we forget to take a step back and reflect on what really matters the most. For me, family is always my main priority. I absolutely adore my family, I’m sure you adore yours too, so you’ll understand just how excited I was when I knew that I could surprise my Mum and Grandma today – the two women who have supported me throughout my entire life. I rang them both and told them to meet me at The Light in Leeds as I had a Saturday afternoon surprise planned especially for them…

What's Inside The Perfect Autumn Bag?

If you didn’t already know, it’s Autumn. Hip hip hooray. The thought of all things Autumny make me jump for joy; jumping in leaves, wearing wellingtons and mittens and getting out those chunky scarves. I am the most seasonal person that you will ever meet, I just love every season. Autumn is my favourite, but then again, I’ll probably be saying that Winter is my favourite as soon as it starts to snow. If you are bored of the cold though, you can always read about what I got up to in the sun recently (here)... For us ladies, Autumn means  that we need to mix things up a bit in our trusty handbags (any excuse). I have well and truly packed my bag ready for these Autumn months ahead of us and I cannot wait to share my excitement with you, these are some of my favourite items yet.

How To Start A Blog: Blogging Tips and Tricks

Hey everyone! So today I've written a blog post that I never thought I would write, well not for a while anyway. The main reason being, that i'm still learning more about this crazy blogging thing everyday myself. The reason for this post is because recently I’ve been receiving a lot of emails asking me for general blogging tips and tricks so I’d love to share some of my ideas with you. Now before I continue, please bear in mind that I don’t consider myself to be an expert on the subject, but hope that I have been in the blogging game long enough to help you iron out many potential teething problems and mistakes that you may run into faster than I did. Whether you've just started a blog, had a blog for a year or you want to start a blog in the future, this post will hopefully help you towards achieving your goals in some way. *UPDATE: read my how to be a blogger, blogging and influencer tips

What To Do In Barcelona: I Love You Barcelona (Part 2)

Firstly I am so sorry about how long it has taken me to publish this, I have been having some horrendous problems with blogger, much like my other visit Barcelona blog post, blogspot decided to delete this one, twice after I'd already written it, so here I am again, starting from scratch. If you want to find out how we spent our first two days in Barcelona, you can read about that here. Our final  two days in Barcelona were just as exciting if not more so and I feel that now is the perfect time to post this as you're probably sat at home, in your dressing gown with the heating on, sipping a hot chocolate and maybe even nursing a cold (I know I am anyway). As much as I love Autumn in England, I'd do anything to go back to Barcelona and here's why...

Whats In My Make Up Bag, October

It’s crazy to think that it’s already October and it’s time for me to tell you what’s on my face this month. It only seems like I was writing about my September face yesterday. Time flies when you’re having fun! October is when everything gets exciting (in my festive mind anyway), it’s nearly Halloween, then once that’s over with it’s time for Bonfire night and after that of course, it’s the big one; Christmas. I’m just a little bit excited when it comes to Autumn although I’d be lying if I said I’m a fan of the chilly weather. So here we have it, my October make up bag…

Beauty Products That Actually Work

With so many different products on the market, it’s often difficult to distinguish between the ones which are actually good and the ones which really don’t work well at all. Today I’ve decided to write about a few key beauty products, the ones that actually work, the products that actually do the job that they’re supposed to do. I have reviewed and used thousands of products throughout my life and these really are the hero products which you should be spending your money on...

Food: The Botanist Restaurant And Bar Review

Nestled underground is a new bar and restaurant where I am probably going to be spending a lot of my time, new to the Leeds scene and already existing in Cheshire and Alderley Edge; The Botanist is more than welcome in my city. After eating at The Alchemist, I just knew that I had to try their sister restaurant and bar, The Botanist; equally as quirky yet just as budget-friendly, this restaurant come pub, takes you into a magical world that you didn’t even know existed outside films such as Harry Potter. I’d like to introduce you to my night at The Botanist, the most beautiful, rustic dining experience that I have ever had…

Champneys Springs Health Farm and Spa Review

Recently I took a trip to Champneys Springs near Leicester. I did want to go to one of the Champneys further South as they do look much better and have better reviews, but they’re all 4-6 hours away from me, so I decided to take a trip to Springs instead. I decided to surprise Jack with this as a little treat and he was just as excited as me to go. He’d never been to a spa before so I told him that he would be in for a treat. I’d done a lot of researching of Champneys Springs and didn’t see anything negative on TripAdvisor, I didn’t find any reviews online or many photos though, but I guess that’s because people don’t really take photos in Spas, I tried to take a few although it was pretty difficult so here is my review of Champneys Springs Health Farm and Spa...

Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2013

em sheldon
Last night was spent at the Cosmopolitan awards and wow what a night it was. I was lucky enough to win the newcomer award last year so didn’t think for a second that I’d win this year (I’m still such a baby with my blog only being under a year and a half old) but I was still thrilled to be shortlisted out of over 40,000 entrants which is just crazy. I don’t really class myself as a beauty blog anymore either, if you know me, you’ll know that I LOVE food and travel, so to narrow myself down as a beauty blog felt wrong, particularly when there were so many girls in my category who are insanely good when it comes to beauty (cosmeticcrave, my money was on her winning – she is such a lovely girl) but the winner went to onenailtorulethemall - it was lovely to see a nail blogger take the award of best new beauty blogger as they don't always get the recognition that they deserve, I wish I could paint my nails like that! This doesn't mean I'll stop beauty blogging though as I do love beauty you can just expect a lot more from me now. I have made a cheeky little vlog (as a few of you asked me to) and of course, taken lots of photos of the night so that you can all see it, I feel like now that the awards are over I can get back to writing about everything and anything that I truly love and I really am excited for what me and Emtalks have in store for you, watch this space, I’d love to thank you all for your ongoing support since March 2012 when Emtalks was born, I cannot wait to see what the future holds and no way would I be here without you, my incredible readers (massive cyber snuggles for you all)…

L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara Review; Mini Mascara Guide

Hello everyone! Firstly, HAPPY OCTOBER! As if it's nearly Halloween already eek! Today we're talking mascaras, it's not often that I'm so impressed with a mascara that I dedicate a whole review to it, in fact, I don't think I've ever reviewed a single mascara before, but, if you're like me and don't feel alive until you've brushed some mascara on your lashes, then you'll agree that mascara is a pretty essential item. The mascara in question, L'Oreal Telescopic is just insane, it really is. I used to use it when I was younger and always loved it then, so I really couldn't tell you why I stopped using it. I guess I just wanted to test the water and see what else was available, it's 2013 and I'm back to the best mascara that I've ever used, I take great pleasure in introducing you to L'Oreal's Telescopic Mascara...
