Afternoon Tea At The Radisson Blu Hotel

When Radisson Blu hotel contacted me with some information about their Afternoon Tea, I knew that it was the perfect opportunity to get together with two of the most important people in my life. Life is crazy at the moment, deadlines are fast approaching (second year is quite frankly disgusting), the blogging world is as exciting as ever and often, we forget to take a step back and reflect on what really matters the most. For me, family is always my main priority. I absolutely adore my family, I’m sure you adore yours too, so you’ll understand just how excited I was when I knew that I could surprise my Mum and Grandma today – the two women who have supported me throughout my entire life. I rang them both and told them to meet me at The Light in Leeds as I had a Saturday afternoon surprise planned especially for them…

We were seated on the comfy sofas in the reception area whilst our table was prepared. Our drinks orders were promptly taken, green tea for me, filter coffee for the other two lovely ladies. We were soon escorted to our table which was set out beautifully for us.

Our drinks were served; it was my lucky day because I got a whole pot of green tea to myself (if you don’t know the benefits of green tea, I wrote a post about how to get fit and healthy, go and have a read of that if you’re wondering why I’m so obsessed with it!) My watch is Daniel Wellington, nail varnish is Nails Inc new gel effect polish (which I love) and my gorgeous ring is from Pandora (thanks Jack)

The lounge area still looked beautiful even though the decor would probably be seen as quite dated now. The decor isn't modern but it's still classy and elegant.

The building itself is simply beautiful, located within The Light. I love big windows like this.

Just as my Grandma was telling us how hungry she was, out came the food. There was so much food that we needed 3 waiters to bring it over to us. I love the steam effect, it really reminded me of The Alchemist in Leeds and made the whole experience even more exciting.

The cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches were my favorite (I ate them all).

We ordered two high teas, priced at £22.50 each these include all of the below. We’re talking scones, sandwiches oh and a cheeky glass of prosecco. You also get a chocolate fondue so that you can dip your fruit into it, perfect for ladies who like to lunch. I have noticed that Radisson Blu often do offers online for their Afternoon Tea, so do look out for some offers if you’re wanting to treat a loved one.

Mum was driving so went for the standard afternoon tea, this is priced at only £14.95 and comes without the dipping chocolate and the prossecco but lucky for her, there was enough to share, I couldn’t not give her a raspberry dunked into the most delicious hot chocolate. I think price wise it’s quite reasonable in comparison to Betty’s (Harrogate and York). As much as I adore Betty’s for the authenticity, it really was one of the first places to serve afternoon tea and it’s oh-so perfectly British, you pay a lot to eat there simply because of the name and don’t really get much food, we’re talking less than child portions. It may look pretty, but it’s hardly filling and it’s pretty bank breaking. Here, you pay the same price and get a lot of food. We ended up wrapping quite a lot of this up and taking it home with us.

My Grandma certainly wasn’t hungry for long.

This was delicious, home-made scones really do have a place in my heart.

I was in cake heaven, oh which to choose? A slice of each, of course.

Radisson Blu, thank you for making this possible. I love being able to treat the loved ones in my life, so to be able to surprise my Mum and Grandma with such a fitting treat, really did make my day. All in all, we had the most incredibly relaxed afternoon, we weren’t rushed out of the lounge, it was actually quite empty which was really nice because we could just relax and enjoy each others company (and a cake or 3). If you want to visit Radisson Blu, they don’t just exist in Leeds, check out their website and I’m sure you’ll be able to find one located closer to you. Have you ever had 'afternoon tea'? Do you like the look of this? What would you ideal weekend lunch-date consist of? Lots of love, Em x

I took my mum to The Berkley for afternoon tea, and this looks just as good, infact that steam effect added a nice theatrics that we didn't have.
