Easy, Healthy Ginger Fig and Oat Biscuits Recipe

healthy easy cookie recipe

Hey guys, so after so many of you read my easy, healthy banana bread recipe I thought it was about time I wrote down my healthy biscuits/cookie recipe. You can watch us making the banana bread recipe at 15 mins on my recent vlog here too if you missed it. I have lots more of these healthy recipes coming so just tweet me or drop me a comment/message on Instagram me @emshelx if you want more recipes and definitely tag me in your photos too when you bake them.  I've always loved cake and cookies, basically, give me all the sugar but I'm the kinda girl who will sit and eat a multipack of biscuits followed by a full pack of Oreos after spoon feeding myself Nutella. I have no cut-off point so that's why I try to ensure I always have healthy snacks in the house. If you've read any of my fitness posts you'll know I'm all about balance, so yeah, cookies are okay but everything in moderation. I strongly believe in having healthy stuff ready to grab in my house. I crave sugar more than a normal person should but with these in the house, at least I'm grabbing goodness. So, get ready, come bake some healthy, easy, dairy free (+ vegan-friendly if you leave the honey out) delicious cookies with me.

The Best Spring Skincare and Bodycare Products

spring skincare

Oh hello hello, she's back with a new beauty post. Today I wanted to talk about spring skincare, one of the things I'm often asked on my Instagram live streams (emshelx) is about my favourite skincare, it's something I could talk about for hours. I am a complete sucker for skincare, I always have been and I don't think that will ever change. I am constantly on the lookout for new products and I do mix up my skincare quite often, whether it's based on how my skin feels or as a seasonal change, I'm always up for trying new skincare products, the skincare buff inside me loves it. I obviously have hero products that I will forever love (read my top beauty products of 2017 post for those ones). Today I thought it would be nice to talk about a few new in, spring skincare and body care products I'm loving. My skin gets dry, irritated and a little dull with the change from winter to spring, one day it's mild and the next day it's snowing and my skin really reflects the change in weather. I'm all about dewy, radiant and fresh skin so these are the products I'm currently loving for exactly that.

Patting Ourselves On The Back, Self-Love

gucci beltJumper / Jeans / Coat / Gucci Belt / Sunglasses

I've got better at ensuring I'm following positive people who motivate me, inspire me and make scrolling through my social feeds a total joy. I got to a stage where I felt anxious refreshing social media because it can be quite a negative, passive aggressive and indirect place. As an over-thinker, it isn't good for my mind some days. I completely understand that often, social media doesn't portray real life, it's a highlights reel and it's no-one has a perfect, happy life all the time. Therefore, moaning is completely allowed, the odd rant here and there, sometimes we just have a bad day, or, something annoys us. I was once told to 'never be negative on social media' and as much as I'm trying to follow positive people (for my own mind), I do think it's quite damaging to pretend everything is okay all the time, we all struggle and we are all fighting battles people may know nothing about.  It's all about being able to put it into perspective later down the line. When a family friend died, I struggled with this for quite some time. If anyone was moaning or, if I was moaning, I'd break down and feel insane guilt for well, moaning. I'd tell myself 'they'd do anything to be here, in this situation' but I realised that we can't beat ourselves up with guilt. Sometimes, we just have a bad day. No-one is perfect. So yeh, I'm guilty of having a Twitter rant on the odd occasion and so are many others. Today, I thought I'd write a blog post all about why we shouldn't be afraid to pat ourselves on the back and why some self-lovin is very important plus, my tips to embrace self-love.

How To Be A Blogger: Blogging / Social Media Influencer Tips, Tricks

missguided off the shoulder knit top
Shop the Gucci belt / Shop the jeans / Shop the knit top

So you want to be a blogger? The last time I wrote a ‘blogger tips’ post was years ago... I’m lucky enough to get tens of emails a week asking for blogging tips (thank you guys for trusting me and asking for my tips/guidance) and I usually direct everyone to my older blogging tips blog post, after all, it covers the basics of starting a blog and getting it out there (linked above if you missed it). However, I got a private message on Instagram this week (@emshelx) asking for more of an updated blog post for new bloggers/wannabe bloggers etc. So, I thought, it's only right to actually give you guys more updated advice. I thought I’d write up a blog post with some things I’ve learnt along the way, tips and tricks if you’re a blogger, or want to be a blogger, or if you're interested in how it works and a general chat about what it takes to be a blogger/blogging in general, plus talk about my equipment and more. So you want to be a blogger? Let’s go.

How To Boost Your Workout

gym shark seamless topTop / Leggings / Jumper Hey guys! So today I thought I’d write a blog post with my tips to boost your workouts this year. I’m sure most of you have something to do with working out as your New Years resolution and I think February is a good time to look back at those resolutions and see how we’re getting on with them. Fitness has always been one of my biggest passions but in 2017 I had a fair few injuries and spent most of my time here, there and everywhere so struggled with my routine. I feel so happy that I’ve basically rested my body, understood the importance of rest days and finally, feel like I’m back in my routine this year (so far, so good). I feel like the spin queen and my mind feels epic for it. Let’s kick this year off to an epic start and talk about the best ways to boost your workouts this year, including keeping your fitness resolutions and motivation on track with the help of Apple Music*.

Ways I've Been Growing My Hair, Hair Strength + Spring Hair Products

blonde hair
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you may be pretty familiar with my hair journey. It’s certainly been a long one, it's easy to damage the hair but hair growth and hair strength certainly do not happen overnight. If you read about how my hair destroyed my confidence, you’ll know that for so long, I had unhappy hair, an unhappy scalp and hair that just refused to grow. This was all down to me damaging my hair and not treating it properly, usage of extensions and too much bleach. For years now I’ve been trialling new products, going to the best hairdressers (Lee + Louise at Sassoon) and ensuring I’m treating my hair like silk. Years on, I finally feel confident with my hair again, I finally dare to go for blow-dries and actually style it myself too and finally, feel like I’ve got to a point where my hair is growing *a hairdresser told me this week that my hair isn’t damaged which made my day* so please know I only recommend brilliant hair products that work for me. Today I want to talk about some spring hair care and some salon professional products plus give you the low down on things I’ve learnt on this hair growth and hair care journey. See this as a bit of an updated hair growth tips post too.

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort Review

maldives underwater restaurant

Conrad Maldives is one of those resorts that everyone talks about. It's a really special place. If you say to someone 'I stayed at Conrad Maldives' they gasp and they want to know exactly what it was like because usually, they've heard so much about it. It's certainly one of the most well known Maldivian islands and I was lucky enough to head there back in December. I apologise that this review has taken so long to get live but I had already put my Conrad Maldives travel vlog and so many Instagram's live from my trip. Today though, it's finally here, my review of Conrad Maldives. I feel lucky enough to say I've visited a fair few Maldives resorts now and they're all so different, it means I can draw positives and comparison points from them so I hope you'll find this blog post useful. Grab a cup of tea and let me take you to the magical Maldives...

Today I thought I’d write a topic with my tips and tricks if you’re freelance or if you work for yourself. I get an awful lot of emails asking me for blogging tips and tricks and quite a few about starting a business or, working for yourself. I wrote a blog post quite a while back about being a full time blogger, but I thought it would be nice to write down a few tips and tricks for any fellow business owners or freelancers out there.

hotel de crillion paris
I’m a little bit of a sucker for Valentines Day, okay, a big sucker for Valentines. Whether you’re celebrating with your dog, your bestie or your partner, I love it. I get that it can be lonely, but I try not to take it too seriously, I use it as an excuse for me time. I’d happily celebrate it by myself, spoon feeding Nutella and then go for a date with Jo Malone in the bath. I know it’s a ‘marketing ploy’ but whatever, I think it can be light-hearted and fun and I fall for all of it, from Valentines chocolates, to Valentines beauty products to Valentines pyjamas (I have even bought Valentines day toast toppers before, yup, I am a marketers dream, I buy myself roses because let's face it, no-one else is gonna buy me them). I use the Valentines period as a chance to love yourself and pamper, I think this is the perfect excuse for me to write about some of my current favourite pamper tips. This doesn't mean just for today either, but I try and do weekly pamper sessions (every Sunday). There are so many little ways you can treat yourself.

Pre-Valentines Day Date Night - 11 Cadogan Gardens + The Ivy Chelsea Garden

Boots / Dress / Scarf / Sunglasses - Ray-Ban from WorldDutyFree

I'm a sucker for Valentine's Day but I'm sure you already know that, I always have been. Just like Easter and Christmas, I like to go all out. I fall for all the balloons, the heart shaped cookies and the funny cards. I'm a sucker for romance and I'm more than happy to have a whole day dedicated to it. Things are pretty hectic at the moment so when invited Matt and I to 'get a room' in time for Valentine's, we were pretty excited, it really is never too late to get a room! We spent our weekend celebrating Valentine's early and what a dream it was. See, that's the thing about Valentines, I like to use it as a reminder to spend valuable time with someone you love, whether it's your girlfriends or your partner or your family. It doesn't have to be extravagant but the gift of time really is the best gift you can give. Let's see what we got up to...

How I Kick Start My Week, My To Do List

Hey guys, hope you’re well today! As most of you probably know, I absolutely love thinking of new ways I can feel inspired or motivated. It’s 2018, a new year and whilst I know some people don’t like seeing the new year as a way to kick start, they see it as just another day, I personally think it’s a great excuse. I know it is technically just ‘another day’ but hey, whether it’s a Monday that inspires you or a new year, a new month, use it, grab it and go for it. Today I want to talk about my top ways to start the week off the right way, I’m working with Virgin Trains on the East Coast to talk about to do lists and have a look at mine. There is obviously no right or wrong when it comes to starting the week off, but let’s look at what I do and see what helps me power through my task list.

Hey guys, so today I thought it would be nice to do a lifestyle kinda post with 6 quick ways to feel motivated/inspired if you’re feeling in a little bit of a rut (sorry I haven't blogged for a few days, I've been having maor drama with my laptop meaning I'm seriously behind, sorry sorry sorry). Whether you’re feeling in a rut with the gym, with work, with a business idea, comparing yourself or just with life in general. We all have those days where we just can’t really be bothered/feel not our best and that’s totally normal, it’s part of human nature but I hope this may help you or inspire you in some way.

Australasia, Manchester

Trenchcoat and online here and here Topshop do great dupes too / Burberry scarf here.

I'm a sucker for a trip to Manchester, usually because it means I get to see my hairdresser, Lee at Sassoon. Lee moved over from the Leeds to the Manchester Sassoon a while back so ever since, I've been commuting from Leeds or London over to Manchester every 8ish weeks when I need a trim. He basically saved my hair and continues to do so and it's well worth the trip to Manchester. I try and tie this into going for a nice dinner, meeting friends or staying over so it feels like more of an occasion so this time, I decided to head back to Australasia, one of my favourite restaurants in the whole of Manchester and even though this is long overdue, I thought it was worth a new blog post because we had THE BEST time.

Top Winter Skincare Products

winter skincare
Hello hello! So today I thought it would be nice to do a little okay, BIG round up of my top products to get you through the winter months. I feel like it got seriously cold in the UK and actually, the weather is constantly changing so goodness knows if it’ll be snowing or 40 degrees next week. I'm currently in NYC (see more on my Instagram: I can’t decide which season I like the best, I try to embrace them all but January/Feb always seem pretty bleak weather wise. Ever changing temperatures make my skin dry, dull and just a little unhappy plus, dark mornings make me feel so tired so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to run through some of my top products for winter skin, the things I’m loving right now. Public warning: I absolutely LOVE all things skincare so yeah, I have a fair few favourites... it really is my passion.

stripe beddingHello hello. Hope you are well! If you guys read my recent blog post with my 5 ways to tackle stress you'll probably *hopefully* remember me talking about the importance of sleep. As cliche as it sounds, sleep really is important and is fundamental for so many things. There is so much science behind sleeping and whilst I'm not an expert, we all know that sleep refreshes and replenishes our bodies/minds. I feel so much better after a good nights sleep so today in collaboration with Third Living I thought I'd bring you my 5 top tips for getting enough sleep and having a good sleep when you do get into bed.

Stress. It's become a bit of a buzz word hasn't it? Or, is it just that we live in a crazy busy world and rarely stop to refuel, refresh and de-stress so we genuinely all are feeling a little stressed. I know I'm not just speaking for myself when I say I'm pretty rubbish at chilling out, doing nothing and, putting my phone down. I'm working on organising my schedule/life in the most efficient way in order to reduce stress this year. Over Christmas, I took a few days off and it felt incredible, I recharged my mind, recharged my body, got back into my gym routine (David Lloyd gym, I love you, you make my mind and body feel epic) and now I thought it was about time I share some of my top stress-busting tips with you. I hope you'll enjoy this post.

My Top Tips For A Balanced 2018

Leggings / Trainers

Hello hello and a very Happy New Year! So, today, one I’ve been incredibly excited to write: how to have a balanced 2018. It’s one of those posts I’ve been waiting to publish because I hate nothing more than people pushing diets and healthy eating on you as soon as Boxing Day comes around, no, we don’t care, we just want to enjoy the festive season without guilt. Now it’s January though, even I have started to feel like a stick of cheese (seriously, there’s only so much cheese/so many foods a girl can eat before she starts to feel as if she has turned into it). So I thought it would be nice to look at some of my top tips for a balanced 2018.

Top Best Beauty Products And Brands Of The Year

Charlotte tilbury highlighter
Okay okay, are you ready for a mammoth blog post? First and foremost, I am sorry this has taken so long to write, I knew it was gonna be a big one. After writing my 2017 honest reflections post, it felt wrong not to then write a blog post about my favourite and top beauty products in 2017. As most of you know by now, I love beauty, it really is one of my favourite things ever (it's a little embarrassing how overly excited I get about new beauty launches) so today I wanted to do a blog post all about the best beauty products of 2017 (and, things I'll be using this year too). As a beauty lover, I think it's important to celebrate the brands I've used the most throughout the year so let's do this.

Healthy, Refined Sugar Free, Three Ingredient Easy Banana Bread Recipe

healthy easy banana bread
Hey guys, hope you are so well today. If you follow me on Instagram (@emshelx) you may recognise this recipe over on my Insta stories. As much as I adore fashion, beauty, travel, fitness I also adore healthy baking. Healthy baking fits in nicely with my fitness routine/schedule and means I'm snacking on naughty tasting things minus all the sugar. I love sweet treats and don't believe in deprivation so do still eat them but it's nice to have tasty, sweet recipes without all the hidden sugar. We all lead busy lives and I'm really not someone who likes spending hours making complicated recipes, I prefer a quick 'boom-boom-bang' and then my recipe is done. I have had so many requests to share my healthy, refined sugar free, super easy banana bread recipe with you so I do hope you'll enjoy. You can make this into banana muffins, banana cupcakes or whatever you fancy. If you make it, do tag me on Instagram so I can see it!

Winter Pamper Tips

winter skincareThere's something about cold weather that makes me want to get extra cosy and spend more time pampering (or wrapped inside my duvet). When the colder months come around, I do change up my skincare and my pamper routine, I spend more time in the bath, less time tanning and more time snoozing (beauty sleep is incredibly important). I find I need more soothing, hydrating products for my skin in winter because my skin seriously struggles and gets incredibly dry with the change of climates. Today I'm going to talk to you about winter skin pampering and some of my top winter pampering tips. I invite you to join me for a cosy pamper day in the Lake District. I recently stayed at Another Place Hotels on an exciting trip with Range Rover (more on that soon) and of course, in such a beautiful bathroom, I couldn't resist a little pamper session.

2017 Reflections - The Highs And The Lows

2017 started off with tears and an awful feeling of helplessness. We said goodbye to 2016 and hello to 2017 in A&E with him. We were confused, angry, upset and we wanted answers. Why did my healthy brother go from being an active young man to barely being able to move or use his mind? I guess that’s the thing with social media, you see the highs, but you don’t always see the lows. It’s something I struggle with because there are a lot of moments in my life, or things I have been through that I like to keep private, they're simply too personal, too raw and I don't feel like I can discuss them, not yet anyway. You’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t or on the web should I say, judged if you do and judged if you don't. If you read my blog post about dealing with online trolls, you'll know that 2017 was the year of being constantly judged, told you don’t do anything for the world, told you're a bad person and all the jazz, all by people we don't even know. I'm over that now and I think everyone else is, we soon realised that it's those people with the deep-rooted problems and not us. 2017 has been an epic year, full of ups, downs, the good and the bad and I wanted to write a blog post all about 2017, looking at the highs and lows and lessons learnt so sit back and enjoy the ride. Some of it gets a little personal but I hope you will enjoy. *If you read anything, please read my final summary at the end.
