How to: Top Highlighting and Radiance Products

Highlighting is something that we all want to achieve, particularly in the run up to Summer. Ever since Kim Kardashian became famous, I have lusted after her perfectly flawless and exceptionally highlighted make up look. How on Earth do you do your make up like Kim Kardashian? Someone please tell me, HOW I make myself even half as radiant as Kim Kardashian? Well... after months of analysing these beautiful girls highlighting techniques, I have finally compiled a list of my all time favourite highlighting make up products. So, read on if you want to look like a goddess this Summer? Corny but hey, who doesn't want to glow...

Product number 1: Xen-Tan Morrocan Oil Tan.
I bet you're thinking... okay, this isn't make up? But, i've put this first on my list because I really do find that applying a good fake tan underneath your make up, literally one layer, makes your face look so much more radiant. I fake tan my whole body and then just lightly brush the tanning mitt along my nose and cheek bones, as if it's been sunkissed, then in the morning, when you wash your face, so much of the tan comes off, that you're just left with like a glowing undertone, and it shines through your make up, it doesn't look too shiny, but it just gives you a hint of radiance. Also, if your make up falls off throughout the day, you're not left pale and matte, you're left with a really healthy glow. By the way, this is my favourite tan in the world so if you do want to tan up your body as well, you can read a full review of Xen-Tan's morrocan oil here. £19.99 and worth every penny. Xen-tan, I love you.

Product number 2: Anne Semonin The Daily Musts Masque Set.
I got this in my goodie bag at the NorthMeetUp thanks to the lovely Nikki. Okay, so again, this is something that can help prep your skin and give it an all round glow, instead of applying an artificial product to the skin though which doesn't last, these masques work to help your skin. What I love about these masks is that they're designed to be blended together, so usually, you will put on a hydrating mask, but then think, uhoh what about exfoliating? Well here, you could mix the gel mask with the cream mask and even add some of the exfoliating mask around the t-zone areas to banish bad skin days. I love these masks because face masks really do brighten the whole skin. Whilst things like nice primers and illuminators do work at giving you an instant fix, if you can, you may as well put a good face mask on once in a  while just so that it lasts a bit longer than an instant quick fix.

Product number 3: Arbonne Sheer Glow Highlighter.

This is another one from my NorthMeetUp goodie bag and I am absolutely obsessed with it. Ah, I won't rave about this too much as my last post highlights (lol, excuse the pun) exactly why I am bessotted with this product. It is just FABULOUS. Easily the best lil highlighter that I have ever used. Yep, beats YSL's touche eclat, that one got knocked off the top spot. But no, on a serious note, it is gorgeous. It gives you a gorgeous, dewy finish and just empahsizes the parts of the face that you want illuminating, cheek bones, eyes etc. I use this everywhere. I think if Kim Kardashian needs a product reccommending to keep up her illuminated make up look, then this one is for her. It's just perfect and I am in love with it.

Product number 4: Glam Glow Youth-Mud Tingle Exoliate Treatment.
If you read my blog, you'll know how much I adore this product, it's probably featured over 100 times now, but like the Ann Semonin products, I do believe that this emphasizes your inner highlight/radiance. I ALWAYS apply this before a night out, because it just seems to take the top and grim layer of my skin off and makes it look fresh and perfect for make up application. They apparently use it on celebrities before big events and stuff like that, so it must be good. But seriously, this facial in a jar is insanely good, it's filled with goodness including lots of nice leaves and other natural things. It does tingle, but when you take it off your skin, I promise, it will instantly look and feel fresh and radiant. If you want to read a full on review of this product, you can read my thoughts here.

Product number 5: Fake Up Concealers by Benefit.
I was lucky enough to get these at a recent Benefit event and feel so honoured because they're amazing. I've actaully just rebought it in shade light. Now, whilst this is a concealer, it is so hydrating and amazing that I think it also passes as a top highlighting product. I use these to contour on a daily basis, you can see my little tutorial of how to use them to contour here.  But basically, these little beauties come in three different shades, light, medium and deep and I've actually been using the deep to contour, whilst I use the light shade below the brow line, along the nose and across the cheek bones. This concealer is so hydrating and moisturising, that by itself, it manages to give you a dewy glow. I've fully reviewed this product here if you want to read more.

Product number 6: Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss.
I bought the starter set from Boots not so long ago for £19.00 and this was inside it. Even though i'm not even really a lipgloss wearer, I do find that this gives your lips such a 'puckered-up-plump' sunny glow. By sunny, I mean that this is just the perfect Summer gloss. I think it's the colour of it, but it basically just looks so nice and radiant, maybe it's the gold undertone that it has. I actually really like this product.

Product number 7: Make Believe Beauty Enhance Luminize Skin Highlighter.
This product again, is perfect for that Kim Kardashian make up glow. You literally need the tiniest bit, because it is so highlighting. It's different to the Arbonne highlighter, I actually wear them both together. I will put the Arbonne highlighter all the way down the cheek bones, yet just rub this around the top of the cheek bones. This is so pretty and glitzy, and perfect for Summer because of it's golden sheen. It is quite thick, so again, you really do need to apply to smallest bit for a full on shimmer. Love it, I just need to stop putting too much on! Small pot, goes a long way.

Product number 8: Vichy Aqualia Thermal Moisturiser.
Now, I had to include this again, as a skincare essential when it comes to highlighting. Since wearing this rich moisturiser, which by the way, smells divine, it honestly smells like you're on holiday. I have noticed that my skin has become so much more radiant. I do believe that this moisturiser has worked wonders for my skin. Not to mention the packaging is probably the prettiest that I have seen in a long time. So, I had to add this to my list of top highlighting products. I do feel that this product has transformed my skin and I cannot recommend it enough. Again, you can read my full review of it here.  PS. Vichy now being in Boots makes my hauls a little bit more pricey, I die to anything Vichy and can't stop filling up my little basket with their products.

I hope that this has helped you. Are there any highlighting products that you just can't live without? Please tell me what your fave highlighting products are!

Lots of love, Em x

  1. Really really REALLY want to try Glam Glow! Huge fan of a highlighter, I like to use a radiance primer as well to start with then use a liquid or cream highlighter over foundation and then finish with a powder highlighter - my current favourites are the Estée Lauder primer and powder highlighter I use is the highlighter half of the Benefit 10 box, but I haven't found my HG cream/liquid one yet! <3

  3. Ooh, there's that little wonder product again! GLAMGLOW. It is actually just the most lovely product. I don't even think you can fully understand unless you use it. I've had 'how can you spend so much money on a facemask?!' but it really is like a facial in a jar- totally worth it for the results you get.
I also love the XEN-TAN Morrocan Tan- it's absolutely amazing!
