Fancy Dress Doll Make Up Tutorial + Video

So, this Saturday wasn't your average day at Emtalks HQ. I teamed up with SFX Make Up Artist Megan Bulmer & Frojos.co.uk and we decided to play around with some fancy dress make up ideas and i'm really pleased with the results (if I do say so myself), check out the video to see how you can get this incredible look really easily & read on to get an exclusive fancy dress discount code...
On this post I will outline some hints and tips on how to achieve this look, we have also made a video below for a quick and easy tutorial of how to create a simple doll look. We went for more of a 'pretty doll' rather than a scary doll, but you can easily make this look scary by adding coloured contact lenses, fake blood, cracks, or drawn on stitches etc. Basically we wanted to make a simple base look which can be easily adapted or tailored to a number of fancy dress outfits.

First you'll need some face paint; we used this Smiffy's Make-Up FX palette from Frojos which you can find here. Another good brand Megan recommends is Snazaroo. Frojos.co.uk have also kindly given all of my readers 15% off over 6000 of their fancy dress items, just use discount code 'EMTALKS15' at the checkout, the code expires 1st September 2013....Great news if you're planning a fancy dress night out anytime soon!

The first step is ideal as a base and can be built on for a more dramatic effect using drawn on stitches and cracks etc, depending on what kind of doll you're going for.

As you can see, the above look could easily be adapted as a cat, it really does depend what you want to dress up as, this is a really versatile look.

These lashes are from Girls With Attitude and work amazingly with this look because they're so long.

For the lips, make sure you conceal the whole lip area and hide the outer edges, then simply paint on an exaggerated pout, tadaa!

You can then add some simple freckles to create a china doll look.

Very Alice in Wonderland...you can see some more of Frojos' Doll Outfits here

A big thanks to Megan Bulmer who is a fantastic make up artist. Please have a look at her work on her page here. Of course, a massive thanks to the lovely Frojos.co.uk who have given all my readers a 15% off code on everything on their website until September. I can't wait to see some of the looks you create! I hope this different little tutorial has inspired some of you. Do you like fancy dress? Have you ever tried any make up looks like this? Lots of love, Em x

  1. Wow the finished look is great! I like how the white liner was used to make your eyes look bigger and add those super long drawn-on lashes.

  9. WOW.....Contact lenses are thin pieces of plastic that sit on the front of the eye. They may be rigid or flexible, soft lenses. Most people are now fit with soft contact lenses.

  11. My dress came with the poofyish part beneath so I didn't had to buy an extra petticoat. I wasn't sure of my shoes too and asked them to keep it long, and there is plenty of space to work with.
