Clinique Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation review

Ad Affiliate throughout -

If you follow me on Instagram @emshelx you'll have probably seen that there's a new foundation on the block and I am well and truly hooked.  To be honest, I never thought anything would even come close to my trusty Vichy Dermablend foundation (shade sand FYI and I've been wearing it since I was literally 18) or, Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush foundation - just two of my forever favourites. For now though, I have found a new favourite foundation and have been trialling and testing it daily over the last few weeks, it's rare for a product to excite me so much that it gets a full review but here we go, introducing Clinique Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation review; warning, this is not your average foundation. You get a lot of bang for your buck.

(I wear shade CN70 Vanilla, online herehere and here) / my blue top

I take my foundations very seriously when trialling them, including putting them to the test on workouts, long walks, hot days and of course, long days too. It's important for me that a foundation can take me through a day of meetings / events but also, not ruin my skin underneath. I'm pleased to say the  Clinique Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation passed my rigorous tests. So many foundations let me down on one thing or another, but this does everything I hoped for and more. I personally look for a buildable, medium coverage foundation and preferably one that's non-comedogenic so it doesn't block my skin / make me break out. I like a foundation that lasts all day, doesn't go shiny and actually doesn't even need a concealer. I sound like I'm talking about my trusty Vichy Dermablend as the two of them are very similar.

So what makes Clinique Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation different from all the rest?

Clinique's Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation is built with 3 serum technologies, designed to basically help your bare skin, so it's skincare within make up which I love. It means all that hard work I put in with my nightly skincare, isn't ruined because I'm putting a non-breathable foundation on. I feel comfortable knowing my skin is happy underneath. I've only ever really worn CC creams with this kind of goodness within. It has vitamin C for brightening / targeting dark spots, salicylic acid which smooths the skin and hyaluronic acid to plump the skin, all within the foundation which is pretty rare! It is also SPF20 but I tend to ignore that and always apply a daily face SPF too, I was taught that SPF mixed into a foundation bottle doesn't distribute evenly so always apply your SPF first too. What's the coverage of Clinique Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation like?

I think the heavier the foundation, generally the worse it is for your skin, but this still feels breathable and light on the skin, whilst the coverage is fantastic. I've read reviews and watched videos where people say only half a pump is needed, I personally like to use one whole pump for full coverage but the coverage is epic, it just makes my skin look radiant, flawless and smooth. I love using a concealer too but you really don't need one with this, that's how good the coverage is. I have really bad under eye bags so on those days I would probably wear a concealer. It's great knowing that it's working behind the scenes making my bare skin happier too so I don't feel guilty weighing my skin down with something that's full coverage as it feels way nicer than some other full coverage foundations.

What kind of skin is Clinique Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation for?

It has a satin matte finish (I use my holy grail MAC Skin Finish Natural Powder over the top and it's the most perfect combo) and is oil free to give even coverage. Just like my favourite Vichy Dermablend foundation, it is non-comedogenic meaning it wont block the pores or make the skin break out, your skin literally gets better the more you wear it which as I keep saying, massively appeals to me. It's also fragrance free which is great if your skin is sensitive. I personally think this is great for skin that wants a medium to full coverage, but you want it to feel lightweight but look absolutely flawless. It really does give the most beautiful flawless finish but it still looks natural too. PS. It comes in 42 colours.

After the sweat test

To conclude: Clinique's Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation is incredibly breathable to say the coverage is so fabulous, I did a Peloton class wearing this and I don't really like wearing heavy make up when working out but it didn't feel heavy, I took photos of my skin after the class and apart from a few bits of sweat on my nose (totally normal) my foundation barely budged, actually it was my bronzer that looked a bit grey, not my foundation. It's waterproof, sweat friendly, feels great and looks great too plus it's working on your skin as you wear it. This foundation is great if you're wanting a good coverage foundation that's going to last all day but still look glowy and flawless.
