Bio-Extracts Skincare Boosters & Face Cream Review

bio-extracts
I’m sure most of you know that skincare is one of my favourite things and when I see new skincare, I get incredibly excited. It’s been at least a week since my last beauty review hehe so I felt now was the time for a new one. I love lifestyle, fitness, travel and pretty much everything but beauty is still one of my biggest passions. Drum roll please, introducing you to Bio-Extracts. This isn’t just a normal skincare brand, it’s totally customisable and it’s pretty epic so today, in the brand spotlight, Bio-Extracts…
bio-extracts boosters

One of the main reasons I was interested in Bio-Extracts is because they use cutting-edge biotechnology and highly purified ingredients in their products. I’m a sucker for good ingredients, this is a vegan friendly skincare brand too if that’s for you. I know a lot of people are keen on vegan skincare now so it's great that this brand is vegan friendly. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I’m a little obsessed with skincare technology and ingredients (I recently went to France and learnt all about how skincare is made, the skincare geek within me was far too excited). So when a new brand comes along, or even a new skincare product, I just need to know about it.

I love hearing the stories behind brands and when I heard about Bio-Extracts I fell in love even more. Generations of mothers would pass on their acquired knowledge to their daughters. Such knowledge often related to their hobbies and interests, domestic skills but most importantly: health and beauty regiments. I once quizzed my Grandma on all her top beauty tips so this struck a chord with me.

A combination of all these elements is what underlies the story of how Bio-Extracts came to be. The work of Marina, the founder of Nubo cosmetics, has always intrigued her daughter, Irina. Marina would educate her daughter about cosmetics whilst Irina was completing her biosciences degree at University College London.

Their family’s love for nature, brought them on a long trip to remote ends of Sub-Saharan Africa, where to interact with a number of different tribes, each with their own unique culture, ways of life and definitions of beauty. They observed these tribes and eventually Bio-Extracts was born!

Bio-extracts is quite a different brand because you can personalise your skincare each and every day. I always mix up my skincare because one day it could be oily but the next day it could be dry, this brand is perfect for this because they recognise that no one skin type is the same. The idea is, you get little shots and they help to cater for whatever your skincare concern may be on that day. Let’s start with the cream…

bio-extracts light face cream

The cream - I got the light face cream, I chose this because it’s ideal for oily, sensitive or problematic skin. It’s formulated with the Multi-Lamellar System and it ensures the skin stays hydrated as it acts like a patch on the skin, mimicking its own structure to prevent waterless. My skin feels hydrated and soft. I do mix my moisturisers up a lot and have just been using this one on super oily skin days. At the moment I’m using a Simple moisturiser on a day to day basis as more of a primer, whilst this is good for evenings.
bio-extract boosts

The boost - For me, the boosts are the best part of this brand. Each boost comes super-charged with active plant molecules, they’re highly concentrated which helps to deliver high performance results. The idea is you combine the boost with the cream (or I guess your own favourite moisturiser if you wish) for a customised solution. You choose a boost and pump just one dosage of moisturiser with 4 shots of your chosen boost (or a selection!) and then apply to the skin.

My chosen boosts -

Glow Boost - this is perfect for those of us who love late nights and jam-packed days. I think this is the busy person boost! It has a bio extract from Wu-Zhu-Yu fruit to provide oxygenation to the skin for a revitalised luminous complexion and natural healthy glow. This really is the one for you if you want to wake the skin up from too many late nights.

Clean to Clear - this one is perfect for breakouts, it gently exfoliates and has Willow Bark within it. It stimulates skin renewal but also helps to leave the complexion clear. This is good for those bad skin days.

Antioxidant Boost - Perfect for the city girls (and guys). This is formulated with Rosmarinic Acid to counteract the damaging effects of oxidative stress and fight free-radicals that the skin is exposed to on a daily basis. I went to such an exciting skincare talk once and learnt about how bad environmental factors can be on the skin (such as pollution etc), this is perfect for those Londoners!

Hydro Boost - Say hello to hyaluronic acid, your hero when it comes to hydrating the skin and enhancing the natural barrier function to keep the skin replenished and revitalised.

The brand do a number of boosts including lifting and pore minimising but the above are the ones I’m using at the moment. So far so good, I love the ease of just putting 4 drops into the moisturiser, or any moisturiser and they’re easy to pack away with me on my travels too. I love it because one day I'm oily and the next day I'm dry so this really is perfect, particularly for people who do like to mix up their skincare like I do. You can pop them with any moisturiser and totally customise your skincare. I’m looking forward to using the brand more! The boosts start from £19.00 too which I think is really reasonable for such high quality skincare. Shop them here.
