What To Do In Hamburg - The Westin Hamburg Review

If you've read my travel section you'll know I absolutely adore finding new places. Last year, I spent a weekend in Munich and had the most incredible time. This year, we really wanted to squeeze at least one last trip in before the end of the year. We were stuck between Milan and Hamburg and guess what, Hamburg won. Germany is famous for their incredible Christmas markets, so we felt we just had to visit. I was invited by Westin to stay at their brand new hotel and try out their incredible wellbeing range. Let's just say, after the manic month I've had, I was so ready to leave feeling rejuvenated and incredible. Let's do this!
We flew from Manchester airport direct to Hamburg, it only takes around an hour so it really is a complete breeze. We chose to park with Purple Parking, their meet and greet section makes damp, cold, dark early morning flights so much easier as you step right into the terminal. I'm all about making my travelling as efficient and stress free as possible, this definitely helped. We obviously left enough time for a browse in World Duty Free, where I started my 5am day with Jo Malone hand massages, a Bobbi Brown make over and I bought far too many Christmas presents. Don't forget to watch my vlog at the end of this post about the first half of this trip, you can see what I bought in the airport. After a quick hour, we were in Hamburg.

To put it simply: the hotel is exceptional. This is coming from someone who's a little bit of a hotel snob. I appreciate really great hotels and I've never stayed in a Westin until now. I feel so fortunate that I was invited to be one of the first to stay in this epic hotel. It's built on top of the Elbphilharmonie concert hall which is a must see in Hamburg. What's so great is that you don't even need to leave the room because you're surrounded by all the sights you need to see. The idea of this hotel is to relax, rejuvenate and energise you. The Westin stands for everything I love, working hard, playing hard and taking 'me' time. The idea of this stay? To leave feeling better than we arrived, and we certainly did. I wish I could head back tomorrow.

The freshness and the cleanliness of this hotel made me feel so relaxed instantly. I felt like I was sleeping in a spa. The colours meant it was bright, comfortable and the whole stay was completely stress free. Every time I looked out of the window I instantly felt happy and excited. I finally got the chance to try the long awaited White Tea Heavenly Bath & Body collection.  This range is formulated with dye-free and paraben free ingredients, it's full of goodness including natural shea butter and more. It's not often you get epic toiletries in a hotel room and these ones are truly special. It's safe to say I used them as an excuse to have a fair few baths whilst I was there. After all, the trip was all about relaxing. I'm a sucker for natural products so I used these to ensure I felt clean, refreshed and soft all over.

We sat and watched the world go by via our beautiful window. It took all my strength to actually leave this beautiful room but after a bath, I felt ready to take on Hamburg, explore and embrace the festivities!

We of course headed straight to a Christmas market, grabbed some fries and a sausage because well, when in Germany!

I wrapped up in my cosiest new coat and my favourite jeans. I told you I never take these Topshop jeans off!

We walked around the Christmas markets until we'd tried everything!

The sunsets in Hamburg are also incredible, the best thing? We watched it right out of our window at the Westin. A serious 'pinch me' moment.

We dined in the beautiful restaurant in our hotel, Saffron. We went for the 5 course tasting menu and it was simply divine. The staff were also exceptional, making sure we were looked after and giving me the best fresh bread, ever.

The following morning? I had to make use of the incredible bath again.

A cup of green tea to start my day, a freshly lit Westin candle too.

We overlooked the whole of Hamburg during our delicious breakfast and fuelled our bodies with goodness to last us until lunch time.

Both Christmas markets and shopping in Hamburg are great. Hamburg has some incredible designer shops and everything is within walking distance from the Westin. As much as we didn't want to leave the hotel, I felt we had to explore so we continued to do so.

We ambled back to our beautiful hotel in time for sunset.

You can see the hotel just to the left of the moon. No matter where you are in Hamburg, you can always spot the Westin and people crowd around it because they're so excited to see it and it's incredible views.

The next morning, we decided to spend the day gymming and using the spa after a delicious breakfast in bed. Nothing relaxes me more than breakfast in bed. The spa at The Westin is truly incredible and you feel like you're on a ship. The views are seriously amazing. We had a much needed couples body massage. I fell asleep in it! I've never felt so tranquil. We then headed to the pool and the sauna and steam room area.

Reluctantly we checked out of the Westin Hamburg, feeling rejuvenated, relaxed and happy. I'll certainly be going back. I may have taken my own toiletries back with me, so I can have a little slice of the Westin anywhere I go!
