The Shock Mascara For False Lash Effect YSL Review - Yves Saint Laurent Shock Mascara

yves saint laurent the shock mascaraWhen I heard YSL were launching a new eye product I simply had to get my hands on it. When I found out it was a mascara, I was even more excited. I’m all about those flawless make up staples, that means, a great mascara, a trusty foundation and an even better concealer. Once you’ve got the basics right, you’re pretty much sorted. One of my desert island essentials is a trusty mascara and I'm always on the hunt for new ones. If you read my recent blog post about the top mascaras and eye products for long lashes, you'll know I'm obsessed with getting the longest lashes possible. Today I’m really excited to be doing a review of a product barely spoken about until now, The Shock Mascara for false lash effect by YSL. I hope you love these images as much as I do. Wait until you see the before and after!

Packaging: Okay so the packaging isn’t my favourite YSL packaging ever, I feel it’s much younger than YSL’s normal packaging but I quite enjoy the fun, edgy vibes going on here. I'm a lover of YSL's traditional gold packaging but this is electric and a little different. It definitely portrays the night effect they're going for with this mascara.

Application: As soon as I saw the brush for the shock mascara I knew it was going to be great for lengthening the lashes. It almost reminds me of Benefit’s They’re Real in the way it looks and it’s just one of those brushes that perfectly elongates the lashes. As a self-confessed mascara addict, I can tell how good a mascara is going to be based on it's brush.

Need I say more? See before and after below to see the length it added to my lashes. I think the images say more than any words can, look how long my lashes are with The Shock mascara. With one application my lashes were noticeably a lot longer, but something I did notice is how 'shockingly' black it makes them. It means you need less layers to cover to whole lashes and get a dramatic effect. It makes them long and thick. On the bottom lashes I had to be careful not to get too much product on and make them too thick and gloopy.

This product is available in black, electric blue (perfect for really bold lashes) and burgundy. I definitely love it for length but it really does make the lashes thick too. It lasted all morning up until the evening.

YSL EYE PALETTEYSL couture variation palette

I don't really wear much eye shadow in the day time, it's something I'm working on, but the couture variation palette is great for day and night, the darker shades give you a date night ready look and the palette also comes in neutral which I love for the day time. Buy it online here. I'm a sucker for how gorgeous the packaging is. Who doesn't want a YSL palette in their life?

I really recommend this mascara as a staple in your make up bag and hope you guys will love it as much as I do. YSL has long being one of my favourite make up brands for incredible, high quality products and the Shock Mascara makes me fall in love with the brand even more (I didn't even know it was possible).
