Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Midnight Eau de Parfum Review

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Midnight

Gifted press sample featured - It was a very exciting day when the postman arrived at my door with the brand new Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Midnight. All of this lovely early spring weather (finally, hello!) is getting me in the mood for beaches, holidays, eating outside and just generally enjoying the lighter evenings. Trips away always make me think about my favourite scents and if you're a long time Emtalks reader you'll know, one of my absolute all time favourite fragrances is the original Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf. There are a few scents I've grown up with, Juicy Couture being one of them, Marc Jacobs Daisy of course and Flowerbomb being another! It only felt right then to review the brand new Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Midnight fragrance today, a sensual take on an old favourite of mine but something that's quickly become a new favourite. Let's discuss.
Flowerbomb midnight by Viktor & Rolf

I have been a fan of Flowerbomb since it was first launched (2005 - I have literally been wearing this since I was a teen ha) and it brings back really special memories for me.

One day out of the blue my Mum suggested we went in to the city centre for some lunch. To my utter amazement she took me to Harvey Nichols and told me that she wanted to treat me to my much longed for Juicy Couture handbag because I had shown her that I was prepared to work for it (by this time I was 15 and I'd been working part-time in my local hair salon to start saving). I was blown away and so excited and still remember how utterly appreciative of this gesture I was because by now I knew how hard it was to save for something. I have still got the handbag to this day, I'll be passing it down my own daughter one day.

‘Let’s have a proper look at your handbag now we’re sat down’ she said. I proudly took it out of the carrier and admired the outside and then opened it to examine it further - oh my goodness, inside it was my first every bottle of Flowerbomb. How did that get in there? My Mum laughed and told me she bought it when she left me for a few mins then cleverly slipped it in to the bag when I was getting the drinks in Starbucks. I was so excited I had to pinch myself and I have been hooked on Flowerbomb since that day. Every single Christmas since my Mum has surprised me with the limited edition Flowerbomb, you could say this fragrance was made for me.

I've started to mix the sweet with 'sensual' scents on an evening. I love scents like Flowerbomb, Juicy, Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom, Chloe original on a day to day basis (you cannot beat a soft, sweet scent). I really do mix my fragrances up depending on my mood or where I am in the world (my top tip is to buy a new scent when you're going somewhere new as then you'll always remember the place when you spray it). Three long time sensual favourites are Armani Si, anything Burberry and Jo Malone Tuberose Angelica, if you know what they smell like you'll see I'm also into my night-time, sexy scents and this is where Flowerbomb Midnight comes into it.

Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb Midnight fragrance is sexy and sophisticated. It's like Flowerbomb grew up, got engaged and then ran away the night before the wedding to start a new chapter. Flowerbomb Midnight is the night to my day. Everything about it is designed for night, hence the name Midnight. The Flowerbomb bottle has changed from the super pretty and famous pink, to black, reminding us that it is designed for after dark I guess.

The thing I love most about the original Flowerbomb is the floral explosion every time I spray it. Flowerbomb Midnight has the same unique explosion only it is even more lavish, elegant and addictive and it leaves an amazing lingering trail of it’s captivating smell, it's sensual and addictive. It's amazing that I can continue to grow up with Flowerbomb.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Midnight is a such a wonderful cocktail of notes blended together, with top notes of fruity blackcurrant and pomegranate, heart notes of night blooming jasmine and peony (my most loved flower), bergamot adding a fresh, zesty note which is then enhanced by spicy aromatic pink pepper. All this is underpinned with white musk, vanilla, patchouli and praline.

Although my mum didn’t buy me my first bottle of Flowerbomb Midnight, at least she was there when I opened it and we were both wowed by it so perhaps this should be on my list to buy her for Mother’s Day (Mothers Day Gift Ideas here if you need them). To conclude? I adore Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Midnight, it's seductive and sensual and the perfect after dark fragrance. I know I'll be grabbing this on my next date night. Flowerbomb, my love for you is endless.
