You Are Good Enough - Smashing Your Goals

Sadly we live in a world full of people who are quick to shoot others down or pick at anything they can. You only have to check Twitter for ten seconds to see this in action. I touched on this briefly with my experiences on a blog post about online hate.  The Royal Wedding was beautiful, it made my heart hurt and I'm still not over it but one look on social media and people still had something bad to say about such lovely occasion. I feel like the social media space has opened us up to both overwhelming amounts of love and, overwhelming amounts of hate, bitterness and general nastiness. The nastiness will be over anything or anyone. Today I wanted to write a blog post all about being good enough because even if you don’t feel it, you are good enough. I've spent years feeling 'not good enough' and if you're struggling at the moment with maybe the wrong crowd, not feeling good enough, negativity etc, I hope this may help you reach for the stars and smash your goals.

If someone says you can’t do something - Use this as a fire in your belly. I've been told my whole life by people that I can't do things and instead, I made it my mission to prove people wrong. I'll never forget being ridiculed when I walked into college and people were chanting my blog name at me. I was mocked for blogging but now, it's my career and I'm so grateful I didn't let anyone stop me from doing what I love. It really is true though, there's no motivation like someone saying you can't do something. If you've got a dream? Go for it. The worst that can happen? You learn from it.

If someone belittles your ambitions - I love this quote, 'keep away from the people who belittle your ambitions, small people always do that but the really great? They make you feel that you, too, can become great'. This is honestly so true, once you start surrounding yourself with people who want you to do great, you'll grow together as people and push for your goals.

Look at your circle - Be surrounded by cheerleaders! For so long I've felt as if people who should support me, don't. If I'm completely and brutally honest, if someone loves you, they should support you. My rule? Be a cheerleader... for yourself, for others and surround yourself by those who cheer for you. You know what they say “always work with/surround yourself with people who help make you a better version of you. Kindly avoid those who don't.” As my Mum says, hang around with the radiators and not the drains. It completely changed my life when I decided to stop wasting energy on toxic people. Read: how to get over a friendship.

Mistakes - It’s not how we make mistakes, but how we correct them that defines us. Mistakes are a really good thing, don't be afraid to make them. I have made SO many mistakes in my life. When you screw up, skip a workout, sleep in etc, it doesn’t make you a bad person, it makes you a human. We are built from every mistake we have made and these mistakes have the power to turn you into something better than you were before. I know this is all very cliche but we often beat ourselves up over mistakes and I think it's really important to understand that you are not a failure, you are human.

Conflict - In life, you will meet people who are constantly looking for conflict, particularly online it seems. This again is one of my favourite quotes of all time: 'there are some people who always seem angry and continuously look for conflict, walk away, the battle they are fighting isn’t with you, it is with themselves'. This is something I continuously remind myself of. You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the bowl and someone's still gonna hate peaches!

If your mind says you can't do something - Try it! I've obviously talked about other people saying you can't do something but what about your own mind? Our minds are difficult little things and as a child/teen, I'd really suffer with my mind telling me 'if I didn't do something, something would happen to my family'. It was something I suffered with for years, I'd be doing silly things like tapping the door three times or tapping my nails in a certain order but it was my mind playing tricks on me. I was scared but I suddenly stopped doing what it was telling me to do, and nothing bad happened. I know it's easier said than done but even when I'm in the gym, for example, I feel as if I can no longer push and I have to tell my mind I can do it. Just like if you tell yourself you can't achieve something, you'll stop yourself from trying. You never know until you try.

Nothing happens overnight - One thing I see a lot is people beating themselves up if something hasn't happened over night. It's important to remember that nothing happens overnight. Maybe your goal is a fitness goal? It takes up to 12 weeks to see changes in your body for example. Maybe your goal is to set up a business? I can't think of any successful business that happened overnight. Good things take time.

Mainly, please be kind to yourself! So there we have it, I hope this little positive blog post inspires you.
