Ah so it's time to talk to you about the second part of my Chicago trip! I am so excited about this because I honestly had the time of my life. I absolutely loved sharing the first part of my trip with you and it feels so good to be back sharing part 2 with you today, yay! Chicago is just an incredible city and looking at these photos makes me so upset because I want to go back, right now. Come explore Chicago with me for another few days!
We moved to a new hotel all the way down the Magnificent Mile (best shopping street ever) for the end of our trip. It was at the other side of the city to the Fairmont Hotel. We chose to stay in the Thompson Hotel and decided to move purely so we could stay in a different area for the remainder of our trip.
The hotel was clean, modern, minimal and artsy. Just what I like.
We could see our favourite deep dish pizza shop out of the window too. Dangerous.
The bed was seriously cosy and the room was so pinnable. Pure beauty.
The bathroom was even better. I wish I could show you a photo of the amazing walk in shower. The Thompson Chicago really reminded me of one of the hotels I stayed at whilst I was in New York. It had such a nice, fancy boutique feel to it.
I want my house to look like this inside. I am such a sucker for nice decor.
We wandered straight down Oak Street (you may remember me talking about this amazing street on my 'Shopping On Oak Street' blog post) - The Thompson Chicago is literally next door to Oak Street so perfect if you're wanting to shop in that area. You basically have YSL and Marc Jacobs on your doorstep. Dream. When can I move in?
I made sure I popped into my two favourite stores, Maje and Sandro.
We wandered onto Michigan avenue, but the opposite end to where we stayed earlier in the week. At this end, we were faced with Chanel - not a bad street to wake up to.
It was chilly in the morning so I wore some thick tights with my favourite jacket ever, a turtle neck and my new favourite shorts.
We wandered through the streets some more until we reached Navy Pier. Navy Pier is across the river and it's basically like a little amusement park.
Like big kids, we jumped straight onto the Ferris wheel.
the views of Chicago were amazing
the sun even decided to come out.
We wandered around the waters edge
and took in the most beautiful views.
Top; online here.
I was able to take my jacket off and put my sunglasses on because the weather finally got better.
We wandered back along the beach
Any opportunity to play in the sand makes my heart race.
The next morning, we ordered breakfast in bed; my favourite thing about hotels. Thompson certainly does know breakfast.
Pancakes, oats, everything basically. Cooked to perfection. I didn't want to leave bed that morning.
We wandered towards the Lincoln park area of Chicago
and were told to eat at R.J Grunts - apparently the first ever salad bar was invented here.
It was full of families and locals - it was so good to immerse ourselves with real Chicagoans!
The Lincoln Park area is beautiful
We stumbled across a conservatory
I am still loving my new hair. You can read about it here if you missed that.
We even stumbled across a zoo
I saw two sea lions kiss but I was too excited to capture it so here they are snuggling afterwards
I even wandered past these little cute monkeys.
After, we stopped to try out the best coffee shop in Chicago apparently; Intelligentsia - Green tea for me.
We took in the view some more
We only ordered a tiny one because we weren't hungry but I can say yes, it is officially the best deep dish pizza I have ever tasted in my life. This hidden gem is well worth the trip.
Fuelled with pizza and beautiful views, I never wanted to leave the beautiful windy city, it well and truly stole my heart. When can I go back?
