How To Make The Best Porridge

porridge recipe
Advertorial post - Never have I had to many messages requesting a recipe post, so here we are today. I absolutely love anything festive and yep, you could say I’m feeling super festive and cozy right now. As much as I don’t really like the cold (unless I’m snuggled up inside with some mulled wine, watching it from the inside) I do love the excuse to whip up some hearty porridge or fresh soup. I recently put my winter porridge recipe on Instagram and so many people asked me for the recipe so I thought it would be the perfect excuse today to write that recipe up. I know you guys have loved my healthy pancakes, healthier choc chip cookies and yummy banana bread recipes in the past so here's a new breakfast recipe you can try. You can find lots of recipe inspo at HelloFresh too, one of my go-to's if I’m looking for good, yummy recipes.  You can get £10 off your first box online here.

You can now grab my very own recipe ebook online here!

porridge on the stove

You will need:
Porridge oats
Cinnamon
Apple (I use red ones)
Sultanas
Almond/oat/any type of milk you’d like to use
Honey
Desiccated coconut

Method:

Boil some milk in a pan, for a few minutes, I stupidly always thought it was quicker and easier to make porridge in the microwave but I’m telling you, this is just as quick and tastes way nicer.

Once your milk is hot, add in your oats, keep then adding milk on top until you have the perfect consistency. Porridge is a really personal thing so I like to have mine quite firm but you might like yours to be a little creamier and waterier. Just add milk to adjust this.

Keep stirring it the whole time so it doesn't stick to the pan!

Ensure you turn the heat to a low simmer and keep stirring it all in, it will very quickly get thick, this is where you just throw extra milk in.

Throw in your fruit, I personally go for chopped apple, which cooks really nicely, cinnamon and sultanas. You can also add a spoonful of honey and some desiccated coconut but again, it’s a really personal thing!

Taaaada, it’s really that easy.

Hopefully the photos will help you see how this should look when making it.

You guys know I love healthy, easy recipes so some other favourites you might like to try over the Christmas period are Deliciously Ella's Coconut Curry with Chickpeas and this Butternut Squash Curry.

Thank me later!
