Drunk Elephant - F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Review - Drunk Elephant Electrolyte Mask Review

Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial

Hello all, when I was a child my Nanna always encouraged me to adopt a great skin-care routine.  She had very dry skin so knew first hand why skin hydration was vital.  My Mum on the other hand had super oily skin when younger and suffered from acne and a lot of emotional upset that went with it.  Nobody wants to see their child suffer and my Nanna felt helpless but nevertheless encouraged Mum to follow an appropriate skin care routine for her type of skin.  Having now entered the menopause Mum's skin has swung the other way and is often very dry!  Not a day goes by when she doesn't treat her skin with respect and a great treatment programme.  I'm so thankful that I learnt about the importance of good skincare from two of my heroes back then. I literally grew up in a skincare obsessed household. Fast forward to today and working in the industry alongside so many knowledgeable beauty experts and professionals coupled with that early family experience has really has given me a keen interest in all things skin care related.
One things for sure, drinking water is important for hydrating the body and likewise, hydrating the skin is just as important. On a flight recently I found myself grabbing for the Drunk Elephant Electrolyte Waterfacial Masque and just had to review this product today.

Let's talk about the gorgeous blue mask from Drunk Elephant, the Drunk Elephant electrolyte mask.

There is an ever-evolving realm of skin care technologies and products available and it can be a bit of a minefield to navigate.  I am super lucky that my line of work enables me to attend so many presentations about skin care and access so many products to try.  So many of them are fabulous and I truly wish I had the time to write about them all and believe me, there is something for everyone's type of skin out there.  I personally suffer from a combination of oily and dry skin and often suffer from breakouts - it just seems that everyone needs help with one skin problem or another!

Over the coming months I am going to provide some individual product reviews about a brand I have come to love so much recently Drunk Elephant You might be wondering which products are the best to buy from Drunk Elephant, I have several favourites in this range and today I am going to tell you all about Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask.

You might be wondering why Drunk Elephant is so famous? Well... Drunk Elephant was founded by Tiffany Masterson, a mother of four with a passion for skincare.  The brand's intriguing name was inspired by the myth that elephants get tipsy from eating fallen marula fruit!  While that of course isn't true, each product contains marula oil.  The company launched in 2012 and quickly gained popularity for its commitment to clean ingredients and avoidance of the 'suspicious 6' - essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrance/dyes and SLS - these are the ingredients the founder believes have irritated her skin in the past (though of course are not responsible for all skin conditions).  The products are also cruelty free and vegan.

What is Drunk Elephant's Philosophy? The company revolves around creating products that are free from toxins, skin sensitisers and irritants allowing the skin to thrive on its own. The brand believes in using clinically effective ingredients that directly benefit the skin without the use of unnecessary additives.

Why is Drunk Elephant a good choice?

In addition to the clean ingredients discussed above, Drunk Elephant is backed by science and formulates its products with active ingredients that address very specific skincare concerns and aims to provide users with visible results.   The brand also encourages customers to mix and match their products to create a personal routine that is tailored for their individual skin needs. I can vouch for this as, on the occasions I suffer breakouts, increasing my use of my favourite Drunk Elephant products always calms my skin.

Drunk Elephant also embraces transparency by providing detailed information about each ingredient and its purpose so that customers can make informed choices.  This is super important especially if you have skin sensitivities.

What is Drunk Elephant F-Balm Waterfacial Mask?

Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask is a literal hydration powerhouse that will quench the thirstiest of skins.  This is my go to mask when I am flying overnight and by the next day my skin feels soft, supple and radiant. I take electrolytes in my water, so why are we not using electrolytes on our skin? If I go into a red hot sauna, steam room etc I am immediately parched and I simply have to take the hydration sachet to bring myself round and rehydrate, so why not use an electrolyte on the skin too?

How do I use the Drunk Elephant F-Balm Waterfacial Mask?

I apply before sleep, leave on all night and wash off the next day.  It can however be applied and effective after only 20 minutes or so.  It can be used alone or incorporated into your existing routine.  F-Balm pairs well with other Drunk Elephant products which allows you to choose things that work best for your skin.

Is the Drunk Elephant F-Balm Mask suitable for all skin types?

From dry to combination and even oily skin, F-Balm is formulated to benefit all skin types.  It especially targets dehydration and soothes irritated skin.

Is Drunk Elephant F-Balm any good?

Seriously, I'm a lover of this product and it's one of my top 10 for its gentle yet super hydrating properties.

How much is Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask?

It costs around £48 for 50ml and I would recommend you starting with the 15ml version to test if it is suitable for your skin - this retails at around £17.

Is Drunk Elephant F-Balm Mask worth the money?

The value of any purchase, and skin care is no exception, varies depending on an individual's requirements.  For me,  F-Balm is worth every penny simply because my skin is so thirsty and this product has a well documented track record for hydration.  I travel a lot and take a lot of flights so it really does suit my hydration needs.  A little goes a long way too so I do consider it good value for me. I think the Drunk Elephant Electrolye mask is perfect for my dehydrated skin on a flight or the perfect mask to sleep in during winter when your skin needs that extra kick.

Can Drunk Elephant F-Balm be used by children?

Following a growing interest in skin care products by children, Drunk Elephant put out a statement which summarised says that many of their products are not considered suitable for children under 12 because they simply wouldn't have the skin problems that Drunk Elephant's products target.  Please take advice before using any skin care products on children. There are certain Drunk Elephant products children can use but essentially it would be the items without acids inside.

It's safe to say that with skincare, once you've tried the good stuff (and by good stuff I mean stuff with quality ingredients), you never go back because the difference is noticeable.  As you can see, Drunk Elephant is so much more than just a catchy name, it stands out for its dedication to clean and effective skin care and might just be the key to unlocking a cheers for a brighter and healthier complexion!
