Holding Onto Summer

beauty flatlay
Summer *may* be over in the UK, but that doesn’t mean we have to let go of the summer feeling just yet. For those of you heading away for some winter sun, or if you’re in a country where the summer fun is just about to begin (I’m looking at you Aussies, so jealous), this post will give my final tips of the season for how to keep summer in your life! Let’s go! This is in partnership with Yoomoo.
yoomoo

As most of you know, I’ve been working closely with yoomoo this year, a delicious frozen yogurt brand. I’ve been working on their yootime campaign, something very close to my heart, as it’s all about the importance of self-confidence and feeling good inside as well as out. This is because yoomoo want to encourage you to be the best version of yourself, in all aspects of life. It was only when I grabbed the Strawberry yoomoo the other day (delicious) that I was inspired to do just *one more* summer friendly blog post, I did only just get back from the Maldives so my feeds are a mixture of winter and Maldivian sun right now. Let’s just say, a tub of yoomoo is a sure-fire way to hang onto summer that little bit longer – it’s a perfect combination of creamy and fruity, and really refreshing.

Maintaining A Summer Glow - One of my favourite things about summer is having that golden glow. I wear tan all year round and have totally limited how often I sunbathe as I’m petrified of the risks of skin cancer. My top products for a summer glow (one that you can take into winter with you) are:

James Read Over Night Tan - this tan is my fool proof tan for a natural glow. I get apply a few layers before bed, wake up, shower and then do another layer. I like to be really dark, but naturally dark. I love this because it hydrates and cares for my skin too, it goes on like a moisturiser which is perfect. It also doesn’t smell, so you can easily wear this all day as it develops. I often apply it after my David Lloyd spin classes and then head into the city centre, no biscuit smell and no stains on my white clothes. This gives the most insane face glow too. I cannot recommend the colour enough.

guerlain teracotta

Terracotta Oil by Guerlain - It would be wrong not to include this. Body oils are my favourites throughout the year for hydrated, glowing skin. I swear by Terracotta, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for Autograph Divine Oil and Nuxe Oil too. Perfect for summer and winter as they give you such a beautiful glow.

Maintaining Soft Skin - I feel like my skin is a lot softer in summer because I can actually be bothered to moisturise. I start with an exfoliator, favourites include Jo Malone Vitamin E and Fresh Cocoa Scrub (I’ve never smelt anything so good in my whole life!). I then finish with a moisturiser. Favourite moisturisers include any body butter from The Body Shop.

clarins double serum

Skincare - When it comes to skincare, I swear by oils. My current favourites are Clarins Double Serum, for smooth, plump skin and Paula’s Choice Vitamin C serum - so if you are heading away for some winter sun, keep the skin hydrated! I’m also obsessed with the skin illuminating capsules from Elizabeth Arden, one small capsule is full of so much goodness, just burst it and sit back as your skin gets super hydrated and watch it glow.

Skin protection - I'm constantly told that UV rays still exist in winter, which is why you should still wear an SPF if you can! I tend to get mine from World Duty Free beauty and swear by Clarins and Clinique for sun creams.

Bobbi brown clementine

Bronzed Beauty - Bronzed beauty isn’t just for Summer, I’ve been using the Clementine palette by Bobbi Brown on my eyelids, it instantly gives a bronzed but also winter friendly look. I think because it’s warm it really works as a transitional shade.

Highlight - I feel like a highlighted glow is totally acceptable as we head into autumn, and it’s a great way to brighten up dull skin too. I try to get my glow from my skincare, but, to quickly fake it, I’m loving Fenty Beauty Killawatt in Trophy Wife and Smashbox glow palette.

Hair Care - I coat my hair in after sun during the summer months, Aveda is my absolute favourite UV spray to protect from the sunshine. This doesn’t have to stop in winter though, current favourite hair marks include absolutely anything by Redken or Kerastaste (favourite).

I find in summer I can be more bothered with my beauty routine whereas in winter, with it being cold, I can’t really be bothered to moisturise etc. However if you make the effort to keep looking after yourself and your skin as we head into the colder months then your glow is guaranteed to last that bit longer. That’s why I say grab a fluffy dressing gown, have a cup of green tea, put the heating on and still find time for a cosy pamper! Knowing me, I’ll switch my hot chocolate for a tub of yoomoo in the bath (it’s low calorie and low fat so I keep it in the freezer every month, not just summer)! As much as I adore summer, there’s something cosy about winter. The weather change definitely means taking care of our skin is so important though, ensuring it’s just as hydrated, if not more so during winter than summer! Glowing skin, I’m not letting you go just yet! If in doubt, whack the bright colours out! I’ve noticed a lot of mustard and baby pink around at the moment, meaning summer colours are definitely not out. Hello vibrant yellow jackets!

How do you feel about keeping a glow in winter? Have you tried yoomoo?
Lots of love, Em x
