Jo Malone Veggies Collection Review: New Vegetable Inspired Fragrances - Jo Malone Carrot Blossom Cologne

Jo Malone Veggies Collection

If you'd told me a few years ago that one of my favourite fragrance launches of the year would smell like beetroot, butternut squash and carrot blossom, I'm not sure I'd have believed you.

And yet here we are.

The new Jo Malone London Veggies Collection has officially landed and, after wearing the fragrances for several weeks, I can confidently say this is one of the most interesting and wearable fragrance launches I've seen in a long time.

As someone who owns far too many Jo Malone fragrances, I always get excited when the brand releases one of its more creative limited-edition collections. While many fragrance houses stay firmly within the realms of florals, gourmands and citrus scents, Jo Malone has taken inspiration directly from the vegetable patch and I love this, it's so up to the minute.

The result? A surprisingly sophisticated collection that feels fresh, modern, playful and completely unlike anything else currently on the market.

In this post, I'm sharing my honest review of the Jo Malone Veggies Collection, including notes, longevity, prices, my favourite scent, who each fragrance is best suited to and answers to every question I've seen people asking online.

About Jo Malone London

For anyone new to the brand, Jo Malone London is one of Britain's most iconic luxury fragrance houses.

Founded in London and now part of the Estée Lauder Companies, the brand has become famous for creating elegant fragrances that can be worn alone or layered together. Jo Malone is particularly known for its clean aesthetic, beautifully giftable packaging and fragrances that feel understated rather than overwhelming.

Over the years we've seen everything from English Pear & Freesia to Lime Basil & Mandarin become cult favourites, but the new Veggies Collection may be one of the brand's most creative launches yet.

What Is The Jo Malone Veggies Collection?

The Jo Malone Veggies Collection is a limited-edition fragrance range inspired by vegetables and allotment gardens. The collection includes three colognes:

Alongside the fragrances, Jo Malone has also launched Green Tomato Vine home fragrance products including a candle, diffuser and Tomato Leaf Hand Wash.

The collection celebrates earthy, garden-inspired notes while remaining wearable and luxurious. Rather than smelling like a vegetable market, the fragrances capture the beauty, sweetness and freshness found within each ingredient.

Jo Malone Carrot Blossom Cologne

My Review Of The Jo Malone Veggies Collection

Carrot Blossom Cologne Review

If I had to choose just one fragrance from the collection, it would probably be Carrot Blossom.

This is the easiest fragrance to wear and the one I suspect will appeal to the widest audience.

On my skin it opens with a fresh, slightly green sweetness before becoming a beautiful soft floral. The orange flower adds brightness while white musk keeps everything clean and airy. The carrot note is subtle rather than literal.

When I wear this, it feels like walking through a sunlit kitchen garden on a warm summer morning.

It's feminine without being overly sweet and fresh without becoming sharp.

Key Notes:

  • Carrot
  • Orange Flower
  • White Musk
  • Fennel

Best For:

  • Everyday wear
  • Spring and summer
  • Floral fragrance lovers
  • Jo Malone fans who enjoy lighter scents
Jo Malone Scarlet Beetroot Cologne

Scarlet Beetroot Cologne Review

This was the biggest surprise for me.

I expected Scarlet Beetroot to be earthy and unusual, but it's actually vibrant, juicy and incredibly wearable.

The blackcurrant immediately jumps out on my skin, creating a fruity opening before the beetroot accord adds depth and character. Patchouli gives the fragrance warmth and sophistication.

There's something joyful about this fragrance.

It's colourful, energetic and a little unexpected.

If Carrot Blossom is the romantic of the collection, Scarlet Beetroot is definitely the extrovert.

Key Notes:

  • Beetroot
  • Blackcurrant
  • Patchouli

Best For:

  • Day-to-evening wear
  • People who enjoy fruity fragrances
  • Anyone wanting something unique
Velvety Butternut Cologne Review

Velvety Butternut Cologne Review

Velvety Butternut is the most comforting fragrance in the range.

This is the scent I've found myself reaching for on cooler evenings.

The butternut accord is creamy and smooth, while tonka bean creates a subtle gourmand quality. Patchouli grounds everything beautifully.

It's cosy without becoming heavy and sweet without becoming sugary.

Of the three, this is probably the most autumnal.

Key Notes:

  • Butternut
  • Tonka Bean
  • Patchouli
  • Ginger

Best For:

  • Autumn and winter
  • Gourmand lovers
  • Evening wear

How Much Does The Jo Malone Veggies Collection Cost?

Is The Jo Malone Veggies Collection Limited Edition?

Yes. Jo Malone has launched the Veggies Collection as a limited-edition seasonal range.

What Does Carrot Blossom Smell Like?

Carrot Blossom smells fresh, soft, floral and slightly sweet. The carrot note is subtle and sophisticated rather than literal. Orange flower and white musk make it feel clean and elegant.

What Does Scarlet Beetroot Smell Like?

Scarlet Beetroot combines juicy blackcurrant with earthy beetroot and patchouli. It's vibrant, colourful and surprisingly fruity.

What Does Velvety Butternut Smell Like?

Velvety Butternut is warm, creamy and comforting. The butternut accord blends beautifully with tonka bean and patchouli to create a sophisticated gourmand fragrance.

Which Veggies Fragrance Is Best?

My personal favourite is Carrot Blossom.

However:

Are Vegetable Perfumes Trending?

Yes. Garden-inspired and vegetal fragrances have become increasingly popular in recent years, particularly scents featuring tomato leaf, herbs and earthy botanical notes.

Is The Green Tomato Vine Candle Worth It?

If you love fresh, green scents, absolutely.

The fragrance captures the smell of tomato vines rather than ripe tomatoes, creating a crisp, herbaceous scent that works beautifully in kitchens and living spaces.

How Long Do The Jo Malone Veggies Fragrances Last?

Like many Jo Malone colognes, these sit closer to the skin than many intense eau de parfums.

On me, I get around 4–6 hours of noticeable wear before wanting to reapply, although layering can help improve longevity.

Can You Layer The Veggies Fragrances?

Yes.

One of the best things about Jo Malone fragrances is fragrance combining.

My favourite combinations are:

Jo Malone Tomato Candle

Are The Veggies Fragrances Unisex?

Definitely.

Although Carrot Blossom leans slightly floral and Velvety Butternut slightly gourmand, all three fragrances feel comfortably gender-neutral.

Final Thoughts

The Jo Malone Veggies Collection could easily have become a gimmick. Instead, it feels clever, beautifully executed and genuinely wearable.

After spending time with all three fragrances, I love how they manage to capture the spirit of the vegetable garden without ever smelling odd or challenging. They're fresh, joyful, sophisticated and exactly the sort of playful luxury that Jo Malone does so well.

If you're looking for something different from the usual floral, vanilla or citrus releases flooding the market right now, the Jo Malone Veggies Collection is absolutely worth discovering. Carrot Blossom has become a regular part of my fragrance wardrobe, Scarlet Beetroot continually surprises me, and Velvety Butternut might just be one of the cosiest scents Jo Malone has ever created. For me, this limited-edition Veggies Collection proves that inspiration can come from the most unexpected places—even the vegetable patch.

Lots of love, Em x
