How I Edit My Instagram Photos | Em Sheldon Lightroom Presets & Instagram Filters

blogger presets for Lightroom

Blog post features my own product so is an AD - Hey guys, happy Monday! I'm super excited to be sharing a project with you that I've been working on for the past 6 months! I get asked on a daily basis how I edit my Instagram photos and what filters I use for my Instagram photos so it was about time I got this blog post live. It's been a long time in the making and has taken a ton of work but I'm proud to announce that I'm launching my own Lightroom presets and filters to help you speed up your Instagram editing process. I have made a dedicated site with all my top tips for editing Instagram photos too called emspresets.com
If you've followed me for a while, you'll have noticed that the imagery on my blog and Instagram feed has evolved so so much over the space of a year, I feel like I've really upped my editing game and that comes largely down to my friend Josie introducing me to software called Adobe Lightroom (thanks Josie, you're a babe and got me out of my old fashioned ways haha).

Now don't get me wrong, Lightroom has been around for a while, but I was always kinda scared to use it because I thought it would be too difficult or technical for me to pick up, for that reason I always just relied on apps like Snapseed and VSCO or Desktop tools like iPhoto (now Photos). I still use most of these apps today, they're extremely powerful, but I've found that Lightroom has just taken my editing up a notch because it allows for so much creativity and flexibility. One of the main benefits I've found is using Lightroom Presets.

What are Lightroom Presets?

Presets in Lightroom are essentially a pre-determined combination of slider positions which are pre-set to give a certain look/aesthetic to your photos. Put simply, presets are an amazing way to build consistency and a theme into your edits, making your Instagram feed stand out while saving a ton of time in the process. You can literally make your pictures look way more professional in one click and let presets do a lot of the hard work for you. This all sounds like magic and while they are pretty incredible, one thing to note is that you will need to make some tweaks to get the best possible results, but this is of course very easy to do. I made it my mission over the past year or so to really dedicate more time to improving my editing skills and I'm honestly so happy I did!

The first picture in this blog post was editing using my COVE Preset and the one above was edited using my PARIS Preset. As you can see, the results are pretty incredible, you can also stack filters on top of one another to give some really interesting looks.

This was edited using my aptly named PIZZA Preset...yes you guys know how much I love Pizza!

It has taken me over a year of learning, watching tutorial videos, getting tips from friends and photographers in the industry to refine my editing process to a point where I feel confident sharing my presets with you guys. I get hundreds of messages asking how I edit my photos and I'm proud to finally be able to show you my editing process in the video below. I hope this will help you but hopefully the below will answer all your questions.

The presets are available to purchase at emspresets.com thanks for your support!

Lots of love, Em x
