Miller And Carter Restaurant Review Leeds

Date nights are my favourite kind of nights, whether it's a trip to the cinema, a walk in the park or a Nandos; it's nice to just get out and do something different. For me, it really is the little things that count, take me to a pet shop to stroke a bunny rabbit and I'll tell everyone that it was the best date ever (who doesn't love bunny rabbits?!) I really am quite easily pleased when it comes to dates. Restaurants however, I'm not that easy to please. I'm a bit (a lot) of a food connoisseur (it runs in the family as my brother is exactly the same) I've always loved advising people when it comes to the finest eateries in town. With me being such a foodie, it's usually up to me to choose the restaurant on date night however, on this occasion I let go of the reins and let my plus 1 choose Miller and Carter as our Sunday night date night and he didn't do too badly after all...

Miller and Carter was a safe option when it came to choosing this as our eating venue as Jack knows that I love it because I've eaten there before. You probably wouldn't realise, usually with restaurant chains they either get it very wrong, or very right. Jack took me to his local Miller and Carter over Summer and I fell in love with it, the best chips that I've eaten (quite similar but maybe even a touch better than those in the Botanist). I had the most adorable steak frites whilst sitting on a cosy sofa in my massive jumper next to a burning log fire. I knew that I had to try out their newest restaurant in Leeds City Centre. How could I not after having chips that good?

I'm a sucker for any restaurant which sells cloudy lemonade or elderflower juice.

Miller and Carter has a really nice feel to it, whilst being a little bit like an American steak house it still manages to be intimate and elegant. I'd describe Miller and Carter as a cosy and intimate restaurant, it has such a  cute, romantic feel to it.

It also has my perfect drinks menu.

Naturally we started with the sharing platter. Extremely calorific but well and truly worth it. I even ate pork fat without knowing and it was delicious. Goodbye abs. The nachos hit the spot, the ribs were succulent and the onion loaf was exciting and different. These starters were quite stodgy and not usually what I'd get at a steak restaurant but the Motown music that was playing really got me in the mood for some 'proper grub'. I wouldn't advise this as first date food as it does get a little bit messy, I guess it's a good way to break the ice though if you fancy it.

The waiter explained that in true American tradition you get a palette cleanser between starter and main. I had lettuce with parmesan (of course - I love cheese). It was actually really nice but I was far too full from such a heavy starter to even think about eating half of it. I thought it was a really nice authentic touch though.

Jack went for the 8oz rump steak with barbecue glazed half rack of ribs.

And then my baby arrived. The big daddy of steaks. I got the most expensive steak on the menu because I wanted to see what it was like. For only £21.95, you get all of this (including the palette cleanser and the chips) which I think is extremely reasonable. You also get a lovely onion/potato loaf which is just delicious, I've never had one before, I feel like I've been missing out. It's a bit random but I love the cute little touches that Miller and Carter bring to the table.

My 8oz fillet was just as juicy as it looks. I've become addicted to steak recently.

I can't explain how good Miller and Carter chips taste.

Both me and Jack always suffer from 'eyes too big for our belly' and order too much, we got prawns as a side too - which were delicious but I was literally too stuffed to finish them.

I didn't hear from Jack for a while so it must have tasted good.

It was time for me to sample more of the drinks menu.

After all that meat we were far too hungry for dessert but we were offered dessert cocktails instead and naturally the giddy girl inside me simply couldn't resist.

I might let Jack choose the restaurants more often. I had such a lovely night at Miller and Carter (thank you very much Jack). The restaurant is perfectly cosy and intimate. There is quite a lot of space and it wasn't very busy so we felt like we were dining in private which was actually really nice, it meant that we could talk at length and just really enjoy the night and absorb ourself in the cosy surroundings plus the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. I love Miller and Carter for good honest food, which doesn't cost the world. I was really impressed with the price structure, I will most definitely be returning very soon (please Jack).
