So when I was invited to a beautiful event all about the brand new Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot, I was VERY excited. And now that I've been wearing it, I can tell you something else: I've barely taken it off.
I've been wearing it ever since the event and I absolutely love it. It's fresh, it's clean, it's coastal, it's slightly woody and it has that incredibly effortless Jo Malone quality that makes you smell as though you've just walked out of somewhere impossibly chic without having tried too hard.

Jo Malone London is one of Britain's most recognisable luxury fragrance houses and is famous for its beautifully understated, elegant scents, gorgeous packaging and, of course, the art of fragrance combining.
What I love about Jo Malone is that the fragrances never feel like they're trying too hard. They're distinctive but wearable, luxurious but somehow effortless, and they can instantly transport you somewhere.
I've been a Jo Malone fan for years and years and have so many memories attached to different scents. It's one of those brands where I can smell a fragrance and instantly remember a person, a holiday, a place or a particular moment.
My mum's wedding was scented and decorated with Jo Malone and it truly gave it the WOW factor.
And now we have Sea Salt & Bergamot.
What is Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot?
Jo Malone London Sea Salt & Bergamot is a brand new fresh and woody Cologne inspired by the wild waters of the Celtic Sea and the British coast.
Rather than imagining yourself standing on the beach looking out to sea, Jo Malone describes this fragrance as being immersed in the wild water itself. It's fresh, mineral, salty and invigorating, with bergamot bringing that gorgeous citrus brightness and driftwood giving the fragrance a soft woody base.
And honestly, I think that description is perfect.
What does Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot smell like?
The most important question of all!
To me, Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot smells fresh, salty, citrusy, airy and woody. It has that beautiful clean feeling you get when you're beside the sea, but it isn't a tropical beach fragrance and it isn't a sweet, fruity summer perfume either.
The bergamot gives it a lovely sparkling freshness at the beginning, while the sea salt creates that cool, mineral, almost watery quality.
Then comes the driftwood, which stops it from being too sharp or simply smelling like citrus. It gives the fragrance some warmth and depth.
On me, it's incredibly clean and sophisticated.
It's the kind of fragrance where you spray it and immediately think, I want to smell like this all day.

Is Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot a summer fragrance?
YES.
But I actually think it's much more versatile than simply being a summer perfume.
It's absolutely gorgeous in warm weather because it's fresh and airy, but I can see myself wearing this throughout spring, summer and early autumn too.
There's something about a clean, salty fragrance that works beautifully when you don't want anything heavy.
Is Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot unisex?
Yes. This is a unisex fragrance and I genuinely think it would smell gorgeous on absolutely anyone.
It's fresh and woody rather than overtly feminine or masculine, which is one of the things I love about Jo Malone fragrances.
In fact, I think this would make such a lovely fragrance to share with your other half.
Is Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot similar to Wood Sage & Sea Salt?
This is the obvious comparison, isn't it?
Both fragrances sit within Jo Malone London's world of fresh, sea-inspired scents, but they aren't the same.
Jo Malone describes Wood Sage & Sea Salt as being inspired by the windswept shore, whereas Sea Salt & Bergamot is immersed in the wild waters.
For me, Sea Salt & Bergamot feels brighter and more citrus-led because of the bergamot, with a much more watery, mineral quality.
If you're already a Wood Sage & Sea Salt fan, I would definitely recommend trying Sea Salt & Bergamot. But don't expect it simply to smell like Wood Sage & Sea Salt with a little bergamot added.
They're related, but they have their own personalities.
Which is better: Sea Salt & Bergamot or Wood Sage & Sea Salt?
I don't think I could choose!
If you want something more coastal, salty and woody, I'd go for Wood Sage & Sea Salt.
If you want something fresh, sparkling and citrusy with that salty sea-air feeling, Sea Salt & Bergamot is the one I'd pick.
And honestly, why choose? They're different enough that I can absolutely see myself owning both.
What does Sea Salt & Bergamot smell like on the skin?
This is where I really fell for it.
The first spray is fresh and bright, with that lovely bergamot coming through immediately. As it settles, the sea salt becomes much more noticeable and the fragrance takes on that cool, mineral, watery quality.
Then the driftwood starts to come through and makes it feel softer and more grounded.
I don't find it overpowering at all. It's sophisticated and relatively understated, but I find myself constantly noticing it on my skin.
And yes, I've been wearing it ever since the Jo Malone event.
That probably tells you everything!
Does Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot smell salty?
It does, but don't worry, you aren't going to smell like a packet of crisps!
The sea salt note gives the fragrance that mineral, marine quality rather than making it literally smell of salt.
It's that feeling of salty air on your skin after you've been by the sea.
That's the magic of it.
Is Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot fresh?
Very.
If you love fresh perfumes, citrus perfumes, clean fragrances, marine fragrances and beach-inspired scents, I think you'll absolutely want to smell this.
It's fresh without being boring and clean without smelling like laundry products.
It's one of those scents that makes you feel instantly more put together.
Is Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot a strong fragrance?
I'd describe it as elegant rather than loud.
Jo Malone Cologne fragrances are generally designed to feel effortless and wearable rather than filling an entire room, and Sea Salt & Bergamot fits beautifully into that style.
For me, it's about being able to catch little wafts of fragrance throughout the day rather than having something incredibly intense and over powering surrounding me.
I love that.
How long does Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot last?
On me, I get several hours of noticeable fragrance and I find myself wanting to top it up during the day.
That isn't a criticism at all for me. I actually enjoy reapplying fragrance, especially a fresh scent like this.
If you want to extend the experience, I'd layer it with your other Jo Malone products and apply fragrance to pulse points as well as clothing.
Can you layer Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot?
Of course!
One of my favourite things about Jo Malone London is fragrance combining.
Sea Salt & Bergamot is particularly easy to imagine layering because it's fresh and uncomplicated enough to sit beautifully alongside other fragrances.
You could wear it alone for that gorgeous clean, coastal feeling or experiment with other Jo Malone scents to create something completely personal.
I always think fragrance layering is one of the most fun things about Jo Malone because you can create your own signature scent rather than simply wearing what everyone else is wearing.
What products are available in Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot?
The star of the launch is, of course, the Sea Salt & Bergamot Cologne, and the launch imagery also showcases a 10ml travel spray and 30ml hand cream making it possible to take that beautiful scent beyond the main bottle.
The travel size is particularly appealing to me because I am always throwing fragrance into my handbag when I'm travelling.
And a matching hand cream? Yes please. I'm praying for a candle too please!
There's something so lovely about being able to build a scent through your whole routine rather than simply spraying perfume at the end.
Is there a Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot travel size?
Yes. A 10ml Cologne/travel size is part of the launch imagery and is exactly the kind of thing I'd recommend if you want to try the fragrance before committing to a larger bottle or simply want something handbag-friendly.
I love a travel fragrance because it means you don't have to leave your favourite scent at home.
Is there a Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot hand cream?
Yes, the launch materials show a 30ml Sea Salt & Bergamot Hand Cream alongside the Cologne and travel spray.
I think this is such a lovely addition to the range because hand cream is one of those products I genuinely use throughout the day.
Imagine putting your hand cream on and then catching little wafts of Sea Salt & Bergamot every time you move your hands.
Dreamy.
How much is Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot?
The official launch information lists the Cologne in four sizes: 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. The published suggested prices are £58, £88, and £125 respectively.
As with all Jo Malone fragrances, I'd recommend trying it on your skin before buying the biggest bottle if you aren't already familiar with it.
For me, though, I already know I'd be very tempted by the 100ml!
Is Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot worth buying?
For me, absolutely.
I think the real test of a new fragrance is whether I actually reach for it once the initial excitement of the launch has disappeared.
And I've been wearing Sea Salt & Bergamot ever since I went to the event.
That says everything.
It's fresh but not predictable, salty but not literal, citrusy but not too sharp and woody without being heavy.
It feels incredibly easy to wear, which is exactly what I want from an everyday fragrance.

It doesn't feel like you need a particular occasion to wear it.
In fact, that's probably one of the biggest compliments I can give it.
I just keep reaching for it.
Is Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot good for holidays?
Absolutely.
If I was packing a fragrance for a summer holiday, this would be right at the top of my list.
It's fresh, clean and coastal without being a typical tropical holiday scent. I can imagine wearing it with a linen dress during the day, spritzing it after a shower before heading out for dinner and keeping the little travel spray in my handbag.
It's basically holiday-in-a-bottle, but in a very British, very Jo Malone way.
My Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot Review
So, after all that, what do I actually think?
I LOVE IT.
I know, I know, I'm a Jo Malone girl through and through, so perhaps I was always going to be biased. But I've genuinely been wearing this constantly since the event and that's always the biggest sign for me.
There are some fragrances that I love smelling in the bottle but don't necessarily want to wear every day. Sea Salt & Bergamot isn't like that.
I want to wear it.
It's fresh, sophisticated, clean, slightly salty, beautifully woody and has that gorgeous feeling of being beside the sea without smelling like a conventional aquatic fragrance.
I also love how easy it is. You don't need to be dressed up to wear it. You don't need to save it for a special occasion. You can simply spray it on and instantly feel a little bit more polished.
Final Thoughts on Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot
I really don't think I could have asked for a more me Jo Malone launch. After going to the beautiful event and discovering Jo Malone Sea Salt & Bergamot, I've barely stopped wearing it, and I genuinely think this could become one of those fragrances that lives permanently in my collection.
