Ad Affiliate throughout: If you’re into health tracking but, like me, don’t always want to wear a bulky smartwatch on your wrist 24/7, then let me tell you something: smart rings are the next big thing! I love how sleek and stylish smart rings are while being packed with advanced sensors and great data. I can't believe that this little shiny band can give me such deep insights into my health while being completely unobtrusive. I get asked a lot about my Apple watch or an Oura ring vs the Ultrahuman Ring Air so today I wanted to do the ultimate comparison of the best smart rings for 2025.
Enter the Ultrahuman Ring Air—the latest innovation in smart ring technology. But how does it stack up against its biggest competitors like the Oura Ring, Apple Watch, Fitbit, and Whoop? I also own the Apple Watch which I wear while family and friends have got the Fitbit, Oura and Whoop so I've brought together all I know and compared the Ultrahuman Ring against those other options plus I am sharing some discount codes for wearable tech too.

What is the Ultrahuman Ring Air?
The Ultrahuman Air Ring is a lightweight, titanium-built smart ring designed to track your sleep, fitness, recovery, and metabolic health. Unlike some traditional fitness trackers, it’s completely screen-free and syncs with the Ultrahuman app to give you an in-depth look at your body’s performance - this is one thing I absolutely adore about it, the insights it gives are fascinating and you get regular messages on your phone encouraging you to stay on track.
It’s also FSA/HSA (a health savings account available in the USA) approved, making it one of the few smart rings you can purchase using your flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA). If you’re in the U.S., that’s a huge bonus!
Key Features of the Ultrahuman Ring Air:
Sleep Tracking: Measures sleep stages, latency, and disturbances - I love examining the data each morning and love seeing my weekly reports too.
Heart Rate Variability (HRV): Monitors recovery and stress levels - I actually believe you can predict when I am not well by looking at my heart rate trend as it's always higher when I have a virus
Temperature Sensing: Helps track metabolic health and menstrual cycles
Activity & Fitness Tracking: Counts steps, movement, and calories burned
Battery Life: Up to 6 days on a single charge
Waterproof: Yes, up to 100m - I leave mine on when showering and swimming
The Oura Ring is probably the biggest name in smart rings, so how does the Ultrahuman Ring Air compare to the Oura Ring?
Feature | Ultrahuman Ring Air | Oura Ring Gen 3 |
---|---|---|
Battery Life | ~6 days | ~7 days |
HRV Tracking | Yes | Yes |
Temperature Tracking | Yes | Yes |
Sleep Tracking | Yes | Yes |
Subscription Needed? | No | Yes ($5.99/£5.99 month) |
Price | Starts at $349 / £329 | Starts at $299 / £349 (Plus subscription) |
💡 Winner in my opinion: Ultrahuman Ring Air—No subscription fees, better metabolic tracking, and a super light feel on the finger.
Ultrahuman Ring Air vs Apple Watch (Series 9 & Ultra 2)
If you’re torn between a smart ring vs a smartwatch, it really comes down to your lifestyle. The Apple Watch is an all-in-one fitness, health, and productivity tool, while the Ultrahuman Ring Air is a health tracker.
Feature | Ultrahuman Ring Air | Apple Watch Series 9 |
Battery Life | ~6 days | 18-36 hours |
HRV Tracking | Yes | Yes |
Sleep Tracking | Yes | Yes |
Activity Tracking | Yes | Yes |
Subscription Needed? | No | No (Apple Fitness+ is optional) |
Notifications & Calls | No | Yes |
Price | Starts at $349/£329 | Starts at $399 |
💡 Winner in my opinion: This is a tough one! If you want all-day notifications and fitness tracking, go for an Apple Watch. If you just want health insights without distractions, the Ultrahuman Ring Air is a game-changer. This is why I actually use both. I really don't like the fact that I have to charge the Apple Watch endlessly but I do love the fact that when I'm in a class I can see my messages and respond, I also love that I have a screen to see my workouts. I HATE how Apple watches look on me, they look ugly with the strap whereas the Ultrahuman ring looks beautiful with all my outfits. I love the sleek look of the Ultrahuman Ring. I also love the weekly reports my Ultrahuman Air ring gives me where as Apple gives me nothing. I personally think there's a place for both Apple watch and Ultrahuman ring but if you don't care about a screen in your workouts, you simply don't need an Apple watch alongside the Ultrahuman Air ring.
Ultrahuman Ring Air vs Whoop 4.0
Both the Whoop 4.0 and Ultrahuman Ring Air focus heavily on recovery tracking.
Feature | Ultrahuman Ring Air | Whoop 4.0 |
Battery Life | ~6 days | ~5 days |
HRV Tracking | Yes | Yes |
Sleep Tracking | Yes | Yes |
Subscription Needed? | No | Yes ($30/£27 per month) |
Price | Starts at $349/£329 | $0 / £0 upfront but requires subscription |
💡 Winner in my opinion: Ultrahuman Ring Air—You get full ownership of the device with no monthly costs.
