Something my late nanna always taught me is that while it's lovely to celebrate occasions like Mother's Day with gifts, what really matters is making the effort to connect with loved ones all year round. My mum will always say, she doesn't need gifts, because my brother and I are the gift to her. Every phone call and piece of time we spend together is more important than anything money can buy so I write this blog post to say that gifts should be additional to all the love you share throughout the year. Enjoy.

Pampering Treats for a Luxurious Mother’s Day
Let’s start with indulgent beauty and self-care treats because who doesn’t love a bit of pampering? Jo Malone is always a classic choice, and their signature colognes or beautifully packaged candles (think Peony & Blush Suede or the beautiful light and elegant English Pear & Freesia) will have your mum feeling spoiled. I adore Jo Malone Limited Editions and the latest Taif and Rose Cologne Intense is gorgeous. Another go-to for luxurious bath and body products is Molton Brown—their shower gels, like the Orange & Bergamot or Rhubarb & Rose, are divine! If these wouldn't suit your mum then a Molton Brown Rhubarb and Rose Diffuser or a luxurious Jo Malone body cream like this Mimosa Body Cream could be perfect.

For skincare-loving mums there are so many incredible options available to suit all budgets. My mum loves (and so do I) Caudalie as a brand and she adores their Firming Night Cream and Cashmere Cream. She is also a big fan of the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Treatment, it's a bit of a favourite amongst her friends together with The Marine Pro-Collagen Skin Range which always delights and makes a nice gift at any time for anyone.
The other favourites she has on the go at the moment are REN Daily Glow Tonic and Clinique Moisture Surge (Clinique has been in our family for generations). She also loves to treat herself to a Garnier Face Mask which she finds super soothing and on the subject of soothing, she has recently treated herself to the Gallinee Soothing Set after (and I'm proud of this) reading my blog (Gallinee) all about this wonderful company and their pro and pre biotic skin treatments.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream
I do come from a long line of beauty and skin care lovers (I was taught the benefits of a great skincare routine at a very early age by my late nanna) and I could go on all day. So I will just say, if there is nothing that takes your fancy above then these little pots of wonder may just be perfect for you to treat your mum to and I can certainly recommend all of them: Shiseido who do the wonderful Essential Energy Hydrating Day Cream amongst other great products, Elizabeth Arden, founders of the wonderful Ceramide Advanced Capsules, I adore these iconic skin treatment capsules that really do firm and smooth, L'Oreal Revitalift Filler Line Plumping Water Cream and Drunk Elephant Protein Polypeptide Cream
Continuing on the theme of skincare, my brother and I have finally persuaded my mum that it is vital (not just a nice to have) but essential, alongside serum and moisturiser to always, every single day wear a layer of sunscreen to protect her face. I'm pleased to report that she has listened to us and is now alternating between 3 different facial SPFs on a daily basis: Murad Multi Vitamin C Clear Coat SPF 50 which she loves because it's clear, Neutrogena Hydro Boost SPF 25 and Elemis Pro-Collagen Skin Protection Fluid SPF 50 both of which deliver great moisture in addition to an SPF so ideal if you're in a rush. So while SPF hasn't normally been a Mother's Day gift, I think a nice hamper of her faves will go down great this year.
I couldn't miss mentioning the amazing facial cleansers out there too. The Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is my daily go to and one I have been using for years and one my mum will indulge herself in from time to time. I also adore Neutogena Hydra Face Water Gel Cleanser and my mum loves the Gallinee Face and Body Cleansing Bar and swears by Fresh Soy Face Cleanser.

Fragrance
If your mum treasures keepsakes, a piece of jewellery will always be thoughtful way to show your love. Monica Vinader offers beautiful, timeless pieces like this Lab Grown Diamond Heart Bracelet which I bought for my mum for a special birthday last year.
Or what about this beautiful Heart Necklace, a keepsake that will last forever. They’re ideal for marking a special Mother’s Day. Alternatively, Oliver Bonas is great for quirky yet chic jewellery that doesn’t break the bank like these Green Onyx Drop Earrings or this Pearl and bead necklace, they've got some seriously gorgeous stuff. I also adore this Mini bubble letter necklace from Anthropologie.
Make up
Sometimes, the best gifts aren’t things but experiences. Treat your mum to something she’ll always remember, like theatre tickets for her favourite show, a relaxing spa day, or a day out at Fortnum & Mason or Harrods for afternoon tea. One gift my mum always references is a flower subscription that we got her from Bloom and Wild which went down so well. And another absolutely fail safe idea for my mum is a beautiful hamper packed with all her favourite goodies.
Tech & Fitness – The Perfect Mother’s Day Gifts for Health lovers and Active, On-the-Go Mums
If your mum is always on the move or loves a little tech to make life easier, there are so many great Mother’s Day gift ideas in this category. A Fitbit or an Apple Watch makes such a thoughtful present—perfect for tracking steps, workouts, and even mindfulness sessions. For something a little sleeker and more on trend but rich in data, I'd suggest getting an Ultrahuman ring. Did you know a smart ring tracks things better than something on the wrist? Something like the Ultrahuman ring is better than an Apple watch, Whoop or a Fitbit and it looks great too. She can track her steps, her sleep and even deep dive into her caffeine intake. Use Ultrahuman ring promo code EMSHELDON15 or EMSHELDON10 for discount on your Ultrahuman Ring. If she loves her music or podcasts while on the go, a pair of Apple AirPods will be an absolute game-changer (and no more tangled wires!). For mums who travel, Apple AirTags are a genius little gift—she can pop one in her handbag or suitcase and never have to worry about losing them again. And let’s not forget self-care—an electric toothbrush like the Philips Sonicare or Oral-B iO makes for an amazing practical yet luxe gift that she’ll use every single day. If she’s into fitness or just loves a stylish athleisure piece, the Lululemon Define Jacket is such a flattering, high-quality staple that works for workouts and everyday wear. For an extra wellness touch, a Theragun mini is an amazing little device for soothing tired muscles after the gym, a long walk, or just a busy day. Whether she’s tech-obsessed or just loves staying active, these gifts are sure to make her feel appreciated this Mother’s Day.
If your mum is into wellness and looking for a beauty boost from the inside out, Ancient + Brave Collagen {use Ancient + Brave promo code EMSHELDON for discount} is such a gorgeous gift—perfect for supporting glowing skin, healthy hair, and strong nails. My mum has been looking in to the positive benefits of collagen recently and it's certainly something on my list for her. For a more all-round wellness pick, JSHealth Supplements like these magnesium ones are amazing, with targeted formulas for everything from skin and energy to gut health. A little self-care in a bottle! Imagine a wellness hamper with all the best supplements - this could go down a treat.
Whether your mum prefers something practical, indulgent, or memorable, the most important thing is that when asking yourself what to buy for Mother's Day - it comes from your heart and that's all that will matter to your mum. It’s the perfect opportunity to make her feel as special as she is. Wrap up her gift beautifully, add a heartfelt card, and spend some quality time together—it’s what Mother’s Day is truly about.
