First up is MAC's Soft and Gentle Highlighter - Everyone raves about this and I can see why, I've had it for well over a year and I've hardly used any of it, even though I apply it most days. I apply this along my cheek bones with my MAC contour brush and it just gives such a gorgeous, barely-there glow, it isn't glittery or too shiny, it gives a really feminine, womanly subtle glow. This costs £22.00 which is quite pricey but considering it lasts for well over a year, it's obviously worth it. I love the whole MAC mineralize range for getting a glow.
Next is Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base and you'll most definitely have seen me raving about this recently, I think I must have blogged about this at least 10 times now but it really is the bomb. Yes I did just refer to a product as 'the bomb', but truly, this is phenomenal. This big tube of magic is just perfect for giving an iridescent glow, (my favourite kind), you can actually apply this as a primer and I'd describe the colour as a nice pearly shade, which ensures you'll look vibrant and hydrated all day. This is £26.00 but it's so worth it, it doubles up as a primer and a highlighter and I doubt it will ever run out, the tube looks gorgeous too.
Nourish's Golden Glow Illuminating Face Shimmer is a highlighter that I've always loved and one which I've actually applied to my legs before as it just seems to blur all imperfections. I've been using this since I started blogging. This is beautiful and golden, the gold tones in it give a really nice Kim Kardashian make up look. Whether you like Kim Kardashian or not, she is the queen of the bronzed/highlighted look. This costs £16.00 and like all Nourish products, it does actually Nourish the skin as well as acting as make up. As I explained in my updated skincare routine post, I'm only using simple, kind-to-skin products and this is kind to skin. It includes aloe vera to stimulate collagen which results in firmer, smoother skin as well as repairing cells. I feel like with this face shimmer, you're fixing your skin whilst wearing it, a win win situation.
Last but certainly not last, St. Tropez' Skin Illuminator is just amazing, it blew me away as soon as I used it, I have recommended this to so many people. I was kindly sent this to try quite a while ago by the ladies at St.Tropez and I haven't looked back since. This is only £12.00 too, so the cheapest out of the 4. I apply this with my Real Techniques Stippling brush just at the top of my cheek bones, I do find that you only need the tiniest bit of this as it does spread really far. Whilst the Nourish highlighter is more of a light gold, I'd say this is more of a deep gold, perfect for creating more of a bronzed shimmer. I do think this is really affordable for a high-end brand.
Other highlighting tips:
- A white/gold shadow in the inside of your eye really brightens up the whole face.
- A white eye-liner on your water line will make your eyes pop and glow.
- I love S5 Radiance serum, great skincare which gives you a glow too!
What are your favourite highlighters? Do you like the highlighted look? Have you used any of the above? Do you like the look of these highlighters?
Lots of love, Em x
