Maybelline Fit Me 2 in 1 Anti-Shine Fit Me Foundation Stick Review

Maybelline Fit Me 2 in 1 anti-shine foundation stick

When I saw an advert for Maybelline’s new Fit Me 2 in 1 Anti-Shine foundation stick, I knew I had to buy it. I haven’t used Maybelline for years, in fact, I’ve never used a Maybelline foundation. I’ve always been a lover of MAC and Dior when it comes to foundation, but many people swear by high-street foundations so it was time for me to try one. I’ve always wanted to try a foundation stick, it seems easier than applying a liquid foundation, I find I always apply too much and waste it all. This foundation looks pretty good on the advert too, so, typical me, a consumers dream, went to Boots and purchased this foundation (well done Maybelline, your advertisement worked), let’s just say, it’s not what I expected…
One of the main reasons that I stick to high end foundations is because I can never get the colour right. I like to be properly colour tested by a make up artist but I was pleasantly surprised though at how easy it was to find my colour in Maybelline's Fit Me foundation. I went for shade 220, Natural Beige. It does look quite dark here, but on the last photo, you'll see that it's actually quite pale on my face. Once blended, it is quite pale and actually, a good colour for me. I always get really worried that the colour of my face is going to be horrendous when colour matching myself, but in terms of colour, I'm quite impressed with this.

I'm very impressed with the packaging of this foundation, I find that when I'm travelling, foundation just kind of gets in the way, it's always a bit clunky, this however, is pretty and sleek, and very easy to apply. I think it looks quite designer with it being simplistic and black. I love good make up packaging. When it comes to application, you literally paint your face with this foundation stick. However, my issues with this foundation started once I had 'painted my face' with it. I find that this foundation actually comes out very thick when first applied to the face, this makes it very difficult to blend, even with a foundation brush. It blends much better with fingers but it is still very difficult to blend and looks quite streaky on my face. You could never wear this without powder.

This foundation is designed to be a gel formula, I can vouch for that, it is very 'gel-like' when it's on the face. The centre of the stick is meant to be the 'anti-shine core' of the foundation, but unfortunately, I found that this is one of the shiniest foundations I have worn. This doesn't bother me because I like my foundation to look radiant, but the whole point of this foundation is that it is 'anti-shine'.

Once I eventually did blend it and put some powder over the top, it does look pretty flawless. This foundation is meant to give a light-weight, matte coverage. I find that the coverage is build-able, you can 'paint' a lot of it on. In terms of stay-ability, I applied this at about 10am and finished work at 5pm. By about 7pm, so about 9 hours, it had fallen off my face a little bit, but it didn't look horrific, I just 'painted' a little bit more on and then put some powder over the top, it's very quick and easy when it comes to touching up this foundation.
Apologies for the glitter on my hand, I had a bit of an issue with glitter exploding all over my bedroom this weekend and it's impossible to get rid of. As you can see, the colour looks very light in comparison to my hand, but actually, when blended, it's perfect. I'd much rather have a foundation which is too light so that I can make it darker with powder and bronzer, than be stuck with a foundation which is too light.
Here is an unedited photo of just the foundation. I don't have any mascara on, this is a home-dye eye lash tint set that I bought from Boots (very impressed with it). This is before putting any powder on top of the foundation, I wanted to show you only the foundation. As you can see, it is hard to blend and actually, is quite streaky on this photo. You can see under my eyes that it doesn't give that good coverage once blended, I'd recommend putting some concealer on with it. It looks quite dry, I did find that it dried my skin out and clung to any dryness by the end of the day. It doesn't look too shiny on this photo, but I found that it really was and it got shinier throughout the day, this could be my skin but actually, I've spoken to a lot of people who have had the same issue with this foundation. This cost me £8.99 at Boots. I don't think I'll stray away from my liquid foundations just yet, but I do love this foundation for ease and quickness, also, it's very good for travelling.

Have you used any Maybelline foundations? What do you think about them? Have you seen this foundation before? Would you like to try it?
Lots of love, Em x
