Desert Island Essential Products

I’ve often dreamt of being stuck on a desert island, lets face it, it wouldn’t be that bad really would it? Think of the endless sun sand and sea. However, being stuck on a desert island means that you can’t take a huge suitcase with you. I’ve often pondered over what products I’d take with me if I had to travel minimally and only take crucial products. This week, I’ve realised that I am a really bad traveller (my boyfriend can vouch for this), I pack far too many unnecessary things, so in an effort to organise myself, I think it’s time to think  about what I really do need, and prove to myself that if I was stuck on a desert island, I could easily get by with just 5 products. So here it goes, if I was only allowed 5 items with me for lets say a month or 2 of travelling, on a desert island, then these are the products that made the cut… I introduce you to my ultimate desert island survival worthy products…

Sun cream – An obvious one, but there is no way that I could be on a desert island without sun cream. I really don’t fancy burning my skin, any cream will do, as long as it’s got a good protection rating.

Cidal Anti-bacterial soap – I recently reviewed this in my easy and affordable skin care routine blog post and I’ve got to say I am hooked on this product. There is no way that I could go on a desert island or anywhere in fact, without this. I could easily take it in the sea with me and wash my face and actually, whole body. It’s anti-bacterial so it really would keep everything clean. This is the  best multi-tasking soap and it really does keep spots away, not to mention that it’s non-drying so it still leaves my skin feeling cleansed and smooth, this could double up as a body cleanser, facial soap and hand wash. I’m pretty sure I’ve read somewhere that people use Cidal soap as a shampoo as well?! This really is the dream soap oh and it’s only £1.99 for 2 of them.
Macadamia healing oil – I absolutely swear by Macadamia and have done for around 3 years now. Ever since my hair dresser recommended it to me for damaged hair I knew that I needed it in my life. I have a large bottle of the healing oil but also a small travel sized one too, I’d simply take the little bottle as a little goes a long way with this product and this would easily last me a month. It would mean that I wouldn’t need to take conditioner with me because as soon as I’ve washed my hair, I’d just put this on as a leave in healing oil/treatment, it moisturizes and strengthens the hair which is what I’d need if stuck on a desert island with lots of harmful sunshine.

Eye Brow Tint and Eye Lash Tint set – this product is a bit of a cheat product, my wild card as I could either do this before I travel or take it with me. I have purchased this from Boots a few times now, but it’s much cheaper to buy online or from bodycare. I pay around £8.00 for it when I buy it but you can get it for around £5.00. This is the easiest way to tint your own eye lashes and eye brows, meaning you wont need an eye brow pencil or any mascara. It lasts for at least 2 weeks from my experience and your eye lashes really do look long and black, it’s amazing waking up looking like you’ve got perfect brows and like you’ve got mascara on. Your eyes don’t go flaky or dry like they do when you’ve got mascara on as this is just a dye for your natural lashes. It’s really easy to use, you mix up the paste using the instructions and then paint it on for 10 minutes. Make sure you don’t get any in your eyes though because it really does sting.

Palmers Cocoa butter – I have recently become obsessed with moisturising and have noticed such a difference in my body and skin since moisturising my whole body every day. My skin feels toned, smoother and generally looks so much nicer. Both me and my Mum swear by Palmers original cocoa butter, you know that saying, don’t fix what aint broken? Well this is the case with this, why use any other moisturiser when the original is the best? I would desperately need a moisturiser if on a desert island, my poor skin would be frazzled and be crying out for moisture, so I'd reach for Palmers.

I hope you liked this blog post. Let me know if you want to do this post too just leave the link below, I’d love to know what 5 items you’d take with you if stranded on a desert island. What would you take with you? Are there any products that you literally cannot live without? Would you take anything that I’ve chosen?

Lots of love, Em x
