Advertorial: Winter is well and truly here, but just because the temperature has dropped doesn’t mean your style game has to suffer. In fact, I honestly think Winter fashion is the most exciting! From cosy knits to sparkling party dresses, there are so many ways to layer up and look fabulous.
If you’re anything like me, your calendar is probably filling up with events - weddings, race days, date nights, and maybe even a cheeky Valentine’s plan. The tricky part is always finding that balance between looking chic and staying warm (because nobody looks cute shivering, trust me!).
So, let’s chat about how to elevate your Winter looks and make the most of your wardrobe for the season ahead.
Winter Weddings and The Races
Dressing for a Winter wedding or a day at the races can be a bit of a nightmare. You want to look elegant, but you’re going to be outside for photos or watching the horses, and the chill is real.
My top tip here is to embrace long sleeves and heavier fabrics. Velvet is huge this season and looks so luxurious in deep jewel tones like emerald green or burgundy. A long-sleeved midi dress in a structured fabric will keep you warmer than flimsy chiffon.
Don’t forget a smart coat! It’s the one time you really need your outerwear to be part of the outfit, not just something you check into the cloakroom. A tailored wool coat in camel or cream instantly makes any outfit look expensive. Pair it with some knee-high boots if the dress code allows—they are a lifesaver for keeping your legs toasty!
Date Nights and Valentine’s Day
With February around the corner, we have to talk about Valentine’s (or Galentine’s!) outfits. Whether you’re heading out for a romantic dinner or just cocktails with the girls, you want to feel your best.
I am loving the trend of mixing textures right now. Why not try a satin slip skirt paired with a chunky, oversized knit? It looks effortless but so stylish. If you want to go a bit more glam for your valentines outfits, a little black dress is always a winner. Elevate it with some sheer patterned tights—polka dots or subtle sparkles add such a fun twist to a classic look.
If you’re keeping it casual, denim outfits can still be super chic for date night. A great pair of straight-leg jeans, a nice bodysuit, and a statement blazer is my go-to "jeans and a nice top" combo. Add some pointed heels and a bold lip, and you’re ready to go.
Day Trips and Casual Weekends
Winter weekends are made for cosy day trips - think Christmas markets, country walks, or city shopping days. Comfort is key here, but we still want to look cute for the 'gram, right?
Invest in a really good quality jumper dress. They are so easy to throw on, comfortable for travelling, and look amazing with a belt to cinch in the waist. Layer it with a gilet or a teddy coat for that extra snug factor.
Also, never underestimate the power of accessories. A gorgeous scarf, a beanie hat, and leather gloves can make a simple outfit look so put-together. Plus, they are practical essentials when you’re wandering around in the cold.
Preparing Your Wardrobe for the Next Season
As we move through Winter, it’s a great time to audit your wardrobe. Look at what you’re actually wearing. Are there pieces you reach for constantly? Or items that are just taking up space?
Use this time to mix and match what you have. Can that summer maxi dress work with a turtleneck underneath? Can your blazer be belted over a coat? Shopping your own wardrobe is the best way to find new outfits without spending a penny.
Stay warm and stylish, lovelies!
