What To Do/Things to do on Valentines Day

Hello everyone, aahh so I hope you read my Valentines Day Gift Guide.  If not, you can click the link and have a quick read of it. But, like i've said in so many recent posts, I love the idea of romance, and I do love Valentines day, whether it's spent with your family, friends or your other half. I decided to do a 'things to do on Valentines Day' blog post because there really aren't any out there, and the big day is only 8 days away. How exciting, well, not that i'm celebrating it, but i'll definitely be in a loved up spirit on the day, just because it's cute.

Have a picnic - I know the British weather is rubbish, but I find picnics so thoughtful and romantic. They're also extremely inexpensive, even if you buy the gorgeous party/picnic food from Marks and Spencers you could feed two of you for under £15.00, i'm talking drinks, crisps, sausage rolls - you name it. I just think it would be a really cute thing to do. I often used to have picnics in Roundhay park over Summer with friends, and even thought I was just with friends, it really was idyllic. I think this would probably be a perfect date for me, sitting in the outdoors having an adorable picnic. Doesn't get much cuter than that. Who needs flashy diamonds and expensive meals?!

Go on a cute walk - So you can tie this in with the picnic idea, or you can just do this anyway. I think cute walks in any season, are cute. My fave has to be walking in the snow, I do love walking in the crisp autumn leaves though. But for a cheap V-day date, which is cute, romantic and cosy, go to a local park or even have a walk around a village and grab some fish and chips at the end. It really doesn't have to be expensive, for me, something like this would be so much cuter as it's so thoughtful and romantic.

Have a candle lit bath - Firstly, I wish I had a bath like this - wow. Well, i'm sure you can improvise, and make any bath look this pretty with a few candles and rose petals. This is a cheap option and it's like creating your own spa at home. I do think this is really romantic, i'd love to do something like this (shame i'm boring and single!)

Be creative - I found this photo and I thought, wow. I think this really proves that each couple is unique, we are all individuals and some couples will love wining and dining, whilst some will prefer to sit by a fire. This photo reminded me to say, stay true to yourselves - do something that you both enjoy, or go wild and come up with something crazy and creative like the above - how perfect.

Go for dinner - An obvious one, but you can't beat sitting in a lovely restaurant with an ambient atmosphere and candles on the table. Dinner dates are great because you can get really dressed up depending on where you go, you can eat and drink to ease the nerves, but you can get to know each other and actually talk, where as a cinema date, you can't talk at all. Make sure you book in advance if you're going to eat out on the 14th Feb though. My favourite restaurants in Leeds would have to be Bibis Italian, San Carlos and Piccolinos. All of them are Italians and I honestly couldn't choose where to go. I'd probably go to Bibi's if I wanted to be really dressy and wanted more of a loud atmosphere, but San Carlos if I wanted something really upmarket yet cosy. Either would be amazing.

Celebrate at home - Take away and films - Last year, I decided to just get a take away Chinese and watch my favourite romantic films, i've got to say, it really was perfect. There's nothing better sometimes than cosying up on the sofa with a glass of wine and your favourite film. I do think it's nice to go out and get dressed up, especially for a special occasion, but if you just don't fancy it, sometimes staying in can be more peaceful and romantic.

Go away for the weekend - spa, Paris... Splash the cash. So, if you've got the cash to splash, you could always go away for the weekend. I once went to Paris for Valentines Day and of course, it was unforgettable. I always like the idea of going to a spa, and i've never actually been with anyone apart from family. I've been to the thermaspa in Bath before which would be so romantic, it's incredible. I've also heard incredible reviews about Titanic Spa in Huddersfield. I'm sure most areas do lovely last minute spa breaks, nowadays and in this climate, they're really not that expensive anymore. The Eurostar, using a youth fare can get you to Paris or Belgium for £60.00 return, and cheap hotels can be found.

I hope you liked this post, remember, it isn't about spending money, it's about doing what's right for you. How will you be spending it? With friends, boyfriend?
