Juliette has a gun Not a Perfume
Who (and What) is Juliette has a gun?
Let's rewind to the brand for a moment before we get in to the fragrance - when I first came across this brand I thought 'woah, who are they' which is I guess what they want people to think! Well, if you’ve never heard of Juliette Has A Gun, you’re in for a treat. The brand was founded by Romano Ricci, great-grandson of the legendary Nina Ricci, and yes—perfume runs in his blood. But he wanted to do things differently.
Juliette Has A Gun is all about modern femininity with a rebellious edge. The name? A nod to Shakespeare’s Juliette—but instead of crying over Romeo, she’s armed with a metaphorical “gun” (aka: her scent) and living life on her own terms. I Love that and it's so culturally current.
Their whole vibe is niche, artistic, and very much not your average high-street fragrance. Think: ultra-cool, minimalist bottles, unexpected ingredients, and a 'cool girl' feel and that is Juliette has a gun nicely summed up.
What is Not A Perfume like?
So let’s talk Not A Perfume.
First of all, the packaging? Gorgeous. Simple white bottle, matte finish, sleek silver cap. It looks like it belongs in a Vogue flat lay.
But here’s where it gets interesting: this fragrance is made with only ONE ingredient—Cetalox.
Yes, ONE ingredient. That’s why it’s 'Not A Perfume.' Because technically, it’s just a single molecule that’s usually used in the base of perfumes. But here, it's the star of the show.
What Does Not A Perfume Smell Like?
I think this is what fascinated me - what does a single ingredient perfume smell like?
✨ I would describe it as , soft, warm, and skin-like.
It’s not floral, not sweet, not spicy—it’s just this effortlessly cool scent that smells expensive, fresh, and kind of addictive. It reminds me of fresh laundry, warm skin, and sunshine in a bottle.
It’s also molecular, so it smells different on everyone. On me, it’s quite musky, creamy and intimate—almost like a second skin. On my friend, it’s more crisp and woody. It's personal, which I love.
How Long Does Not A Perfume Last?
On me it lasts about 6–8 hours, and I can still smell it faintly on my clothes the next day. It’s not a strong, hit you as soon as you enter the room type of scent, it's more subtle, sexy, and makes people lean in closer.
I also love layering it. I sometimes spray it over another scent to give it a musky softness, and it always works.
How much is Juliette has a gun, Not A Perfume?
Is Juliette has a gun, Not A Perfume Worth It?
Honestly? YES.
If you like bold, floral, attention-grabbing perfumes, this might not be for you. It's not for everyone but if it is for you then it's everything. If you love fresh, minimalist scents that feel intimate and luxe, this one is such a winner and I love it because it's different.
Is Juliette has a gun, Not A Perfume hypoallergenic?
It is indeed hypoallergenic and it's also:
Vegan
Paraben-free
Ideal for sensitive skin
Because it only contains Cetalox, it’s great if you're someone who gets headaches from perfumes or has allergies. It’s literally the scent I reach for when I want to smell amazing but not perfumed, if that makes sense?
Is Juliette has a gun, Not A Perfume unisex?
100% yes. It’s marketed as unisex and because it’s a single molecule, it really adapts to your own skin. Gender-neutral and universally flattering which makes it super current.
Why is Juliette has a gun, Not A Perfume called Not a Perfume?
Because it only contains one ingredient—Cetalox—which is typically used as a base note in perfumes. No top or heart notes. It’s a statement against overly complex fragrances.
Is Juliette has a gun, Not A Perfume good for layering?
YES! It layers beautifully with almost any other fragrance. It gives depth and muskiness without overpowering.
Where can I buy Juliette has a gun, Not A Perfume?
Amongst others you can find it online at:
They do several sizes, and I recommend starting with the travel spray if you’re not sure. But be warned—it’s addictive.
