It doesn't have to be Christmas to have a Winter cocktail, however, it does have to be quite chilly to justify something as a 'Wintery drink' and extremely chilly it is in England at the moment. Recently I was invited to try out The Alchemist's Winter Terrace and of course, I couldn't decline. We're talking fur throws, scrummy cocktails and gorgeous nibbles. What's not to love?
If someone told me I'd be having food and drinks outside at the end of December, I'd have probably cried at the thought, I dislike the cold quite a lot, but when I heard that there would be outdoor heaters and fur throws, well, count me in.
The Alchemist is just the coolest place, they have a few of them around the country, I actually did a full review of a meal and drinks at The Alchemist which you can read here if you missed that, but basically, it's a seriously cool, cosmopolitan bar - it makes you feel like you're in London rather than Leeds.
The outdoor terrace is absolutely boiling even in the depths of winter, thanks to the fur throws and the outdoor heaters - you're fully blocked from the rain thanks to how the bar has been built.
It was an excuse to take my sparkly nails out for a play. (Colour is from Claires Accessories!)
No cocktails are complete without olives to nibble on, my favourite treat.
I went for the non-alcoholic cocktails as I was driving unfortunately.
My fur gilet is from Miss Guided, I love it in burgundy.
We had the most delicious salt and pepper chips.
The Alchemist are serving their new winter cocktails, some of my favourites are below:
Hot Buttered Rum
soft and warming with hints of apple and nutmeg. a hug for your tongue.
Cuppa Kraken
rum spiced with clove, cinnamon and ginger, mixed with orange rum caramel, nutmeg and pineapple juice. literally a hug in a mug.
Milk & Cookie
Memories of christmas eve before curling up in bed. Almond, hazelnut and chocolate cookie tickled milk with an almond cookie on the side to dip at your leisure - a personal favourite
WInter Sidecar
A twist on a world war two brandy classic with a soft mouth feel of pear, ginger and a subtle hint of chocolate
Caramel Rum Punch
Will warm up your table with an explosive mix of Jamaican rum, nutmeg, pineapple juice and watermelon syrup, served long with a valiant stick of cinnamon
I had the nicest night with Remie from Rems luxury blog and Joanna from Minty Essence.
I enjoyed the fur a little bit too much.
In true girl style, we ended the night with toasted marshmallows and a creamy hot chocolate.
A massive thanks to The Alchemist (my favourite bar and eatery) for having me to sample the delights of your gorgeous new Winter terrace, it only seems to be getting colder so I'm sure this won't be my last visit.
Has anyone ever been to a Winter terrace type thing? What are your Winter plans?! Does anyone else find Winter really hard to make outdoor plans? Do you like the look of this?
Lots of love, Em x
