L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara Review; Mini Mascara Guide

Hello everyone! Firstly, HAPPY OCTOBER! As if it's nearly Halloween already eek! Today we're talking mascaras, it's not often that I'm so impressed with a mascara that I dedicate a whole review to it, in fact, I don't think I've ever reviewed a single mascara before, but, if you're like me and don't feel alive until you've brushed some mascara on your lashes, then you'll agree that mascara is a pretty essential item. The mascara in question, L'Oreal Telescopic is just insane, it really is. I used to use it when I was younger and always loved it then, so I really couldn't tell you why I stopped using it. I guess I just wanted to test the water and see what else was available, it's 2013 and I'm back to the best mascara that I've ever used, I take great pleasure in introducing you to L'Oreal's Telescopic Mascara...

As you can see, the brush is a very different shape to most normal mascara brushes. It's very long and thin, surprisingly though, it isn't flimsy, you'd expect it to be quite difficult to use with it being so long and thin, but I haven't had any problems with it. I find it's quite easy to control. The colour is extremely black, it does come out very wet, but it hasn't gone clotted on me yet and made all of my lashes stick together, probably because the brush is really good at separating lashes. It does dry quite quick too which is another bonus. This mascara reminds me very much of Benefit's 'They're Real' mascara, with this being slightly more intense due to it being more wet which makes the colour a lot darker. You'd expect that this is just a night out mascara because it's so dark, but actually, you can put 3 or 4 layers on for a really intense, long night out look or just one coat for a pretty, long and girlie day look.
In the day, I tend to put one coat on, this leaves my lashes really long but not too dark, on an evening, I usually put about 3 coats on, I move the brush from the bottom of the lashes (underneath) and in zig-zag motions, bring it all the way to the top. The brush is so good at separating lashes, you look like you've got falsies on without having to buy false lashes, I scrapped mine as soon as I started wearing this.

Excuse the tiny photo, but here you can see after one coat, I have nothing on the left hand side and L'Oreal Telescopic on the right hand side. It makes my lashes curly too for a pretty day look.

You can see from this photo that with two coats, it really opens the eyes up - my pupils look huge and they look seriously dead without mascara. If you focus on the bottom lashes, you can see just how long it's made them. This is only from two coats. This mascara can actually make your lashes too long, it's up to you whether you think that's a good or bad thing.

Here is a before photo - my lashes look quite dark as I'd just used a face wipe to remove any eye make up.

Here I am in the same pose after two layers, you can get your lashes a lot longer than this with this mascara, it really does depend how long you want to go and how many coats you want to put on but hopefully you can see how intense the colour of this mascara is.

This mascara was on offer at Boots, if you bought one product you got another one half price - pretty good I thought, so being a beauty blogger I bought two mascaras, I will be reviewing the other one very soon. This usually retails at £10.99 which isn't that expensive considering how good it is. You can get it from FeelUnique online for £9.00 which makes this quite a cheap mascara. This is quite an old mascara but you know what they say, trust in things that have been around a long time, this isn't new, it doesn't promise any mimics, but it's been on the market for well over two years and it's still on the market, so it must be a well loved product and I can vouch for how good it is.

If you like the sound of this or are looking to try even more amazing mascaras, my other favourites are:
-Jordanna Lash Extreme Mascara - (around £3.00 from Amazon). This Australian mascara is incredible for really dark lashes, whilst Telescopic gives you lots of long, thin, separated lashes, Jordanna is all about drama and gives you thicker and darker lashes.
-MAC Cosmetics Zoom Lash - (around £18.00 from Mac stores). This mascara is just as wet and dark as L'Oreal Telescopic but it has quite an ordinary brush so it doesn't give your lashes the length that Telescopic does, you need to try quite hard with this mascara to get long lashes. Telescopic is much easier to use and you really only do need one coat of it for to-die-for lashes.
-Benefit 'They're Real' Mascara - This is very similar to L'Oreal's Telescopic Mascara, it makes your eyes look like you have lots of long, separated lashes but without the darkness and wetness of Telescopic. The brush is very similar too but you need a quite a few coats to get the darkness that you get from L'oreal's Telescopic.

I really hope this teeny mascara guide has helped you out. Have you used L'Oreal's Telescopic Mascara? What do you look for in a mascara? Do you need a mascara to wake you up on a morning? What's your favourite mascara?
Lots of love, Em x
