W Hotel, Barcelona Review - The Best Hotel In Barcelona

AMALFI MAXI DRESS Pampelone Clothing
If you've read my ultimate guide to Barcelona you'll know just how much I adore the place. Barcelona is somewhere I'd happily move to, it's my favourite European city (so far). It's vibrant, relaxed but has beach and city all rolled into one, if you want to sit and eat tapas for a weekend, you can, if you want to use Barcelona as an excuse for a beach break, you can but equally, you can shop and you can explore too. Barcelona has something for everyone. For as long as I can remember I've wanted to stay at the W Barcelona, as you all know, I have stayed at W Hotels around the world, including W Hotel China and W Hotel London so it only seemed right I finally got myself to the W Barcelona. I wanted to treat Matt to a lovely weekend in my favourite city and there was no better hotel to do it at. It's possibly the most iconic hotel in Barcelona and I'm here today to give you a little glimpse inside...

It certainly can't be missed, sticking into the ocean like a fin. The location is great, a short stroll away from Port Vell and the gothic quarter or there are always taxis outside waiting for you. It's right on the beach, making it perfect for beach runs, beach strolls or relaxing. I found the location perfect as I'm a beach girl, so it meant I could enjoy the beach, wake up on it but then I love exploring too, and a short walk takes you to all the best tapas bars. The W Barcelona is definitely the 'in place' to be.

w barcelona hotel rooms
Whilst there are lots of attractions to the W Hotel Barcelona, the newly renovated bedrooms were one of the highlights. Designed almost like a ship inside, with ocean like prints on the floor and the best views in Barcelona, I don't think you can get a better hotel room. The blogger within me was pretty excited by the gorgeous rose gold details throughout the room. W Hotels are quirky, modern and they go above and beyond, so even if you arrived at the hotel empty handed, they'd look after you. They have their 'whatever whenever' service so whether you forgot your trainers, your face wipes or your toothbrush, they are so good at helping out and catering towards your needs. I really love a bright bedroom and the W Barcelona rooms are so bright and fresh. I didn't want to leave the bed, one of the comfiest I've ever stayed in. W Hotels always ooze luxury and style and whilst the service is ridiculously good, the staff are also really relaxed and chilled too.

We were greeted with a beautiful card and juice on arrival. It's the small touches from the W that always make me smile and make me remember how much I adore their hotel brand.

The bathrooms in the W Barcelona are amazing. Imagine the largest walk in shower you've ever seen, with seats inside. I am a massive bath lover though and do wish every room had a bath too, some of them do though! However, the amazing pools and spa definitely make up for the lack of bath in our room.

It's definitely one of those bedrooms where you don't even want to leave it. The struggle with Barcelona? If you can call it a struggle, there's so much to see and do so you need to somehow drag yourself away from the comfort and beauty of the W. I choose to stay in W hotels around the world because the service is always the best, they set the bar when it comes to how you should be treated in a luxury hotel. We had a W Insider (our concierge) who emailed us a list of all the best recommendations of places to eat, drink and things to see and do. We went to most of them and have to say they were incredible, the most talked about gems of Barcelona.

I don't travel lightly but for weekend breaks, my Horizn Studios suitcase has been coming everywhere with me. It's my absolute favourite, the design is stunning and it even comes with a power pack to charge your phone via usb whilst you're travelling. I cannot recommend Horizn Studios enough for suitcases.

It was pretty chilly when we visited Barcelona but we still made use of the W Hotels facilities. The two lounge pools are absolutely amazing, with again, epic views. They overlook the whole of Barcelona and have such a modern feel. We sat with cocktails and nibbles as we took in the beautiful view. There's also a BLISS Spa in the W behind the pool, with a large high-tech gym (I loved it) and some of the best massages. I had the craziest massage of my life, where I was exfoliated and then a huge shower came over my body to wash me. It was an experience.

It's definitely one of the most beautiful pool areas I've seen. A lot of hotels have rooftop pools in Barcelona but the rooftop pool at the W Barcelona is so spacious and beautiful. My shirt, online here.

We spent our days exploring the gothic quarter, eating all the tapas and wandering around the beach. Read about the best things to do in Barcelona to find out exactly what we did.

Wether you're going to Barcelona for a relaxed weekend, a beach break or an adventurous weekend, the W Barcelona really has everything you need. From the incredible bar inside, the gorgeous views, the relaxing pool and spa, the beauty of Barcelona is you really can make it a trip personalised to your favourite things. For me? It was about exploring and eating so much tapas. I'm hoping to head back to Barcelona with my family in September, it's safe to say, we will definitely be staying at the W. Whether you stay there or just visit, even if you just go in for a spot of lunch or go to the nightclub, it's well worth a trip to see it. I am always blown away with W Hotels and how they treat their guests, like royalty. Once you stay at W, you realise just how good, a good hotel can be. I cannot wait to go back. The experience was exactly what I'd hoped for and more.
