A Moment Of Calm; My Weekend Breakfast

Life is really busy, for most of us. We all have those days where we're rushed off our feet and completely forget what calm feels like. If you've read my blog post about my job, you'll know that whilst I love it, the blogging world can be very full on. I recently wrote a blog post about how best to juggle your time, because I feel like I've become the queen of having no schedule, it really does change every day. When Lindt challenged me to do something for me, and share a moment of calm, I decided to take you for a healthy breakfast with me. Apart from the gym, which is my one hour of relaxation a day (if you can call the gym relaxing), the only time I actually sit, breathe and spend time with my loved ones is breakfast (when I'm at home!). Even if we go out for breakfast, breakfast is such a big part of my life. I'm sure you've read some of my fitness posts where I talk about why breakfast is so important, but it's not just important from a health point of view, I find it such a calm moment too and it always starts my day in a great way.

molten brown sandalwood candleFlowers and candles really brighten my day and start it off in such a calm, relaxing way. I'm a little obsessed with this Molton Brown one.

On weekends particularly, I have time for 'proper' breakfast. Mid-week, if I don't have a breakfast meeting, I tend to grab a bowl of porridge, a Bloom matcha tea and some rye bread. I was recommended rye bread by a great nutritionalist and it works with my stomach a lot better. You can read about my time with her on my blog post here. I still make sure I sit down even if it's just for ten minutes and chat to my family. I always make time for breakfast, it's just so important for me. My body cries out for it and I actually feel incredibly sick if I don't eat breakfast, it's my fuel to start the day. I see my car as an engine and without the right fuel, I don't have the energy to use my body and mind to the best of it's ability.

I always start my day with a glass of water and lemon to flush out any toxins. I then make myself a cup of green matcha tea, it's stronger than green tea and apparently better for you. I go for Bloom matcha tea, always.

During the festive season, naughty little me may have a chocolate or three for breakfast. It's very fitting then that Lindt is my favourite; creamy, delicious and worth every single calorie.

My body struggles with certain breads, but I'm obsessed with delicious rye and sourdough. As you can tell, I have a really big breakfast. If you've read any of my fitness blog posts, you'll know that I swear by having a big breakfast to really fill me up.

healthy easy cookies

When I have the time, (usually the night before), I'll bake my healthy oat cookies. You can find my recipe here. They're simple; honey, cinnamon, oats, banana and blueberries. Top them with some chia seeds and you're ready for the day ahead, full of nutrients. They're also great because you can grab them and go, if you are in a rush. I was definitely tempted to melt some Lindt into these for a late night after breakfast treat.

So there we have it, I hope this inspired your weekend breakfast but also, made you realise that breakfast is such an important way to start your day.

Do you love breakfast? How do you start your day? When is your 'moment of calm?'

*This was a collaboration with Lindt, as you guys know, one of my all time favourite chocolate brands.

Lots of love, Em x
