Recently, whilst in London, I stumbled upon a pretty heavenly little store. Now, if you follow me on any form of social media, you'll know that I adore sweet things on cheat days (read my blog post about the 80/20 rule if you're wanting to find out more) so naturally, I had to step inside this sweet little store. Strangely, Magnums for me bring back memories. Really happy memories. As a child, my Dad would go to the shop on a Sunday evening and 'treat us' to a Magnum. It was a real Sunday treat and I guess, something I've grown up with. I've always been drawn to them, chocolate and ice cream obvs, what isn't to love. So now, come make one with me (you can head over and make your own too!!!) Warning, food porn.
The Magnum Pleasure Store is heaven for any chocolate/ice cream addict, serving up bespoke, hand made ice creams throughout Summer. You get the ultimate Magnum experience, first, you choose your ice cream flavour (chocolate or vanilla, I went for vanilla), then after choosing a selection of toppings, you move over and choose your chocolate type too.
If you follow me on Twitter @emshelx, you may have seen me raving about how incredible Kendall Jenner looked on the recent Magnum campaign, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a huge Kendall fan (how is her face so perfect?) so naturally that made me want to go into the store even more. Walking into the beautifully designed store on South Molton Street, London, is like heaven. Imagine the glammest ice cream hang out possible, that's exactly what this is. Say goodbye to brunch hangouts, I'll be heading here in future! Beautiful photos of the one and only Kendall grace the walls mixed with gold. A Magnum really is an opulent and indulgent treat which is exactly what the shop portrays. If you read my blog post about why I don't believe in diets and the importance of the 80/20 rule, you'll know that for me, accepting a delicious ice cream is a no-brainer. Treat yoself. Don't feel guilty for it. Life is for enjoying and that's exactly what Magnum's brand values are about.
A day without pleasure is a day lost, I think this might be a motto I start to live by. I've always loved Magnum but stepping into this store made me love them even more, they're the most glamorous of ice creams and actually, so much more than just an ice cream (they even do chocolate bars now - count me in).
The chocoholic in me was pretty excited when it was time to go and make my own Magnum. I've done this once before at the Olympic Games in 2012, I'll never forget how much fun it was dipping my own Magnum in their store in Westfield. Now, I finally got to relive that moment (I just wish my family were with me to join in on the fun!). I'm definitely going back. Once I chose my vanilla ice cream, I got to choose my toppings.
The topping counter is huge, you choose three and trust me, this was the hardest part. I definitely wanted at least 6. Honey comb, sea salt, goji berries - everything you can imagine. If you're feeling brave, add some chilli!
I went for pearls, coconut and berries but really fancied some sea salt too!
Your toppings are shaken up together like a cocktail.
Then it's time to get it dipped. I went for chocolate first with a layer of peanut butter in the middle. Delicious. My mouth was drooling as I went through the stages and chose everything!
First step, they dunk it in the chocolate of your choice. Then, it's dunked in the peanut butter if you choose that, then some more chocolate over the top for good measure.
Customers enjoyed their delicious ice creams as I made mine!
Tadaa, just like magic, it was ready, my toppings were mixed up like a cocktail concoction and bravo, I was left with the prettiest ice cream one has ever seen, dipped and then sprinkled on top - this is hands down the yummiest ice cream I've ever had. Those pearls look seriously beautiful. Of course I went for a girlie and super pretty ice cream but it had some serious, delicious crunch to it which went so well with the melt in your mouth chocolate.
One last dribble of chocolate - I went for some white this time and I could finally eat! For once, no photos of me eating as it went so quickly!
I bit inside and felt no guilt - just heaven with every bite. Who knew peanut butter tasted so incredible inside a Magnum.
I also had no idea that Magum chocolate is made with 100% sustainably sourced cocoa - so you're getting a quality ice cream here.
I stayed and watched as they dipped some more and then crowds came in, ready to make their own Magnums! You can head down too this Summer, aptly named the Magnum pleasure store, make sure you get yourself down to South Molton street asap, it's open exclusively for Summer and it's the first time customers can get their Magnum double dipped! So if you fancy a personalised magnum (does it really get better than this?) make sure you head to the store this Summer!
This hand-made freshly double dipped personalized Magnum Double is in line with Magnum's launch of Magnum Double this summer: avaliable in 3 flavours - double chocolate, double caramel and double peanut butter. To launch Magnum Double, Magnum has launched the Release the beast, dare to go double campaign, you can find out more here. See you there!
Lots of love, Em x
