My Honest Opinion Of Detox Teas; Slendertoxtea 14 Day TeaTox Review!

Slendertox teaHello hello! So you all seem to be enjoying (I hope anyway!!!) my fitness/well-being posts and I have been wanting to talk about detox teas/teas in general for a long long time. Tea is a powerful little thing, I am obsessed with green tea and it's a great, little thing you can add to your balanced diet to speed up the metabolism and give you extra energy. I have been asked quite a lot of times recently to write about my 'diet' and what I eat on a daily basis. I promise I'll be doing an updated post for you on that as soon as possible. If you read my recent top health and well-being tips post, you'll know that I believe in a balanced lifestyle, that means, I like to be good 80% of the time with my food and then a little naughty the other 20% of the time. I do not believe in depriving myself. Detox teas or health teas have come under a lot of scrutiny in the past few years but I wanted to give you my honest opinion of them. Let's discuss...

First up, I would never, ever, ever condone just drinking tea alone and not eating. In fact, the reason I like Slendertoxtea is because they actually say you should drink their tea with a balanced diet - good! I don't think my body could handle eliminating food, ever (do not do that, ever!). I work out usually 3-5 times a week depending on what I can fit in and my body really needs fuel (every body needs fuel so please never ever starve yourself) so I would never ever not eat. I once tried to do 'no carbs' for a week as a little experiment and it's the worst thing I've ever done. I binged so badly at the end and put all the weight back on, I felt tired, hAngry (hungry and angry together) and just not good at all. Eating a balanced diet is so so important.

So tea: If you read my blog or follow me on social media (come say hello on Instagram and Twitter if you haven't already!!!) you'll know that I have at least 4 cups of green tea or matcha tea (super strength green tea) a day. So adding Slendertoxtea into my diet really wasn't an issue as I drink tea all day anyway - note I say 'adding it in'. I am careful about what I eat anyway (read my post about changes I've made recently to see more about this) but I am trying to be a lot more clean and un-processed with my food choices so for me, going into a supermarket now and picking up coconut oil, spinach, kale, brown rice, quinoa is totally normal. Just like sipping away at green tea all day is normal. I've never really drank coffee in my life, or ordinary tea but a few years ago I forced myself to fall in love with green tea.

So, a teatox? According to the Google dictionary, a teatox is 'a detox tea system to help individuals lose weight. Most teatox systems come with both a morning tea which increases energy levels and metabolism, and an evening tea which is a colon cleanse.' If you know me well or read my blog, you'll know that I don't really believe in detoxes as such, I would never totally detox my body (e.g., starve myself - no thank you) but it does feel good for example to cut things out sometimes, for example I rarely eat white bread, I don't drink fizzy drinks (probably once a month) and I don't eat as much white pasta - I guess you could say that's cleansing for the body as I am trying to get rid of the nasty things from my diet and I do feel so much better for it. A lot of my friends have done tea toxes and have seen really positive results when it's mixed with a balanced diet.  Of course you're going to lose loads of weight if you don't eat for 14 days, but eventually you have to eat, this is why it's so important to make eating healthily a lifestyle, rather than a fad. Slendertoxtea promote healthy lifestyles rather than fad diets.

So what is Slendertoxtea? I am often sent tea toxes to review but I decided to review Slendertox purely because my friends love it and I've heard so much about it, also the company is based in Leeds and I am always up for trying out local businesses. It's made from a natural organic herbal blend which is important, I do not want to put anything nasty in my body. It's designed to detoxify the body and increase metabolism. It also suppresses your appetite (which sounds scary but green tea does the exact same), burns calories and increases energy - it's basically just like a super green tea so I honestly see no problem adding it into my diet. When added to my diet every day (there are day sachets and night sachets), I did feel more energetic, I could get through 5 gym sessions a week and I did feel more toned. I don't know if it's just a mind set but I felt good drinking it. I did go to the toilet a lot more, but that's what teas do, they kind of flush everything out of you (just be careful if you're on the contraceptive pill, I'm not a doctor but I know there was quite a lot in the news recently about how certain teas can stop your pill from working as they flush it out - do double check this one if you're going to start drinking teas). For the first week I noticed my skin broke out a little bit, my Mum thinks it could be due to all the natural, new herbs introduced into my diet or the fact that it was cleansing me but I can't possibly put it down to just the tea because it was also my time of the month so it would be very hard to say.

The price is really good, at just £13.99 for a 14 day blend.

I did a lot of research about the brand first and they do not believe in fad dieting or diet pills (thank god because I am 100% against diet pills, fad diets and quick fixes). There are no quick fixes when it comes to dieting, in fact, I don't even believe in diets, I just believe in a healthy balance and making healthy living part of your daily routine and lifestyle so that it never turns into a diet, it is life. Do not see a teatox as a quick fix, see it as a natural way to energise yourself, boost your metabolism and a way to motivate you to continue eating healthy and working out more! This is basically a natural approach to keeping the body cleansed and free of toxins. I honestly see this as just a super green tea and that's exactly how I drank it - in the morning with my breakfast and before bed.

The ingredients include lots of things like green tea, fennel seeds, red bean and more. The unique blend of ingredients contains vitamin b12, protein, fibre, and vitamin c too so it really is like drinking a mug of superfoods. The tea works by breaking down the fatty deposits which adheres to the intestine enabling you to work much more efficiently, within a short period of time you may find you feel less bloated which is something I look for because I am always bloated. Again, I'm not a health expert/dietician so this is just my opinion, but you can check out the FAQ section of their site for more info.
Results: I didn't drink the teatox looking for any results in particular, I just simply added it to my balanced diet and continued my normal exercise for 14 days. I definitely felt more energised, less bloated (finally) and I guess I did feel and look more confident and toned after 14 days. My stomach was/is definitely flatter but this is mixed with clean eating and exercise. I wouldn't ever recommend spending a lot of money on a teatox as it is just a super charged green tea and you can get ones like this on the market which are affordable and natural!

You can buy this teatox online here and I would recommend it, I love that they're not one of these tea companies who tell you not to eat for 14 days! It is so important to have a balanced diet and I see no issue with adding this in.

What are your thoughts on tea toxes? Have you ever used a tea tox? Do you like green tea?

*This was sent to me to review by Slendertoxtea but as always it's 100% my honest opinion.

Lots of love, Em x
