We've all been there, wishing that we had a bit more money, or that some money would fall from the sky and help us out. We've all dreamed about winning the lottery too, hands up if you've planned out what you'd buy if you won? Or imagine if money trees were actually real? Yep? Me too. When I was asked to talk to you about what I'd do if I won £20,000 by The National Lottery, I jumped at the chance. I am forever writing lust lists. In fact, I write a wish-list style post every month and discuss the products which I'd like most in my life. Unfortunately, I don't have thousands of pounds spare. This time, I really can dream about winning instead of planning my wish-list around my tiny little wage. But the main question is, what would the normal person spend £20,000 on? What would you spend £20,000 on? Would you rather buy 100 small items or splurge on a car? Would you rather travel for a year or pay off your University fees? I'd love to know...
The collage above is a cute little mood board of some of the things that I'd spend £20,000 on (if I was ever lucky enough to win such an amazing amount - one day please!)
-Firstly, I'd go to Topshop and not have to look at any of the price tags.
-Second, I'd go travelling. I'd take my family to Atlantis Beach, in the Bahamas. It's my dream trip, ever since Mary-Kate and Ashley filmed 'Holiday In The Sun' there when I was younger. Just me who was an Olsen twin obsessive? There is no point in winning money if you're not going to enjoy the money and share it as far as I'm concerned, so I really would make sure one of the first things I did, if not the first, was book a huge family holiday.
- I've put a photo of the Victoria Secrets angels because I'd love to put the money towards some sort of nutritionalist (or a super machine) to make me look a little bit more like them. Basically, someone who is trained and can give me the ideal health tips. Me and my Mum have always said that if we won a large amount of money, we would hire someone to make sure that we are eating well and exercising well.
- Being a normal girl, I would flutter some of the winnings on standard splurge things like an Ipad, a YSL clutch bag and maybe even a Celine bag. I'd buy my Nanna her dream Radley bag too, she deserves it. I'd probably end up buying a few of the things which I dream of owning, but I can't bring myself to part with my money.
- I love blogging (of course). So a Canon EOS 5D MK3 camera would be on my list (with a cheeky news lens too). It's the ultimate camera and I'd most definitely wrap it up and give it to my brother as a present as he is incredible to me. We're technological geeks, it would make his day to own this camera.
This could be possible, thanks to the National Lottery's new Lotto game. All will be revealed in Autumn, but for now, I can tell you that there are three main ways players can win prizes. For example, the more numbers you match the higher chance of winning more money. It will work the same way as the normal Lotto, with players choosing six numbers using the play slip or a lucky dip. But, in Autumn, when you buy a ticket, you will receive a unique number at the bottom. With this number, there will be 50 guaranteed prizes of £20,000. Of course, you can win even just £25.00 or £100.00 and personally even if I won £10.00 I'd be over the moon. If I win £3.00 on the Lottery I get ridiculously excited. I'm a student after all, £10.00 is fine by me. £25.00 would pay for a lovely trip to the seaside with my family or boyfriend, I wouldn't be too greedy.
Lastly, I'm all for using money to help people, I have always said that I would try to open an orphanage and somewhere for poorly/mistreated animals to live if I won millions. Money is there to enjoy, to help others and I've always said, what is the point of having loads of money if you're not going to share it with someone? I do the Lottery every time they do a special EuroMillions '100 UK Millionaires' and I'm yet to win a million. I'm not a big gambler, I do love 2 pence slot machines though, I'm a bit of an addict when it comes to them. I will keep trying and hopefully I can open my animal sanctuary sooner rather than later. I would love to win loads of money so that I could take some time off from life, and start helping others.
Thank you to the National Lottery for asking me to write this blog post, it's really got me thinking...
Lots of love, Em x
