Clarins Skin Perfecting BB Cream Review

I'm on such a Summer/skin care hype recently and just like the InTransit Primer, I have featured this in a lot of posts lately but I feel that it needs an individual review because I want to tell you all about it. BB creams have been on the market for a long time but it’s really difficult to know which one to buy for your skin type. I used to think that wearing a BB cream meant that your whole face would be on show and I didn’t used to be confident in my skin, so I liked to put concealer and foundation on to cover my imperfections. Clarins Skin Perfecting BB Cream has changed this forever, it’s completely changed my opinion of BB creams, read on to see why and how...

Firstly the packaging, it’s lightweight and easy to carry around. It’s standard Clarins, red. I do actually like it, it’s quite sleek looking. It’s not got the Chanel factor and definitely doesn’t have the Burberry factor, but it looks good in a Clarins kinda way.

I fell in love as soon as I applied this to my face. It comes out like foundation, but it’s super duper moisturising. It’s like applying a light weight moisturiser and treatment to your face that looks like moisturiser. Whats not to love? The colour, I got shade light, is perfect for me. For a light shade it’s actually really quite dark.

I use my Real Techniques blending brush to really blend this in along the cheeks and nose so that there is only a light coverage in the areas that I want to tan, it gives such a flawless but natural finish.

Because of its moisturising properties it really does make your skin look radiant, you do glow a lot. If you don’t like this you can put powder over the top, I tend not to depending on what kind of look I’m going for.

In terms of staying power, it may just be my skin but at the end of the day this does kind of fall of the face, which isn’t that good, maybe its because its quite an oily base. You could always use this as a primer so that your skin is being fixed underneath your foundation if you don’t dare to bare, but it does have really good buildable coverage.

Overall, I love this product. It is insanely good, thank you to Escentual for sending this my way quite a while ago and introducing me to such an incredible product which I will buy over and over again.

Do you use BB creams? What are your thoughts on this? PS. Keep checking back for my battle of the BB cream post where I will compare lots of BB creams in one post for you, then you can choose which one is best for you.

Lots of love, Em x

  2. I might have to give this one a go, I recently tried the Smashbox BB cream and I'm seriously regretting it. I've never had a more painful, angry breakout than I had from that! I was really disappointed with it, especially considering I wanted to find a brilliant bb cream before I go on holiday! Michaela xoxo

  7. I tried their hydra quench tinted Moisturiser a few months ago, after my friend recommended it. That was lovely, so I bet I'd love this. Ive never actually tried BB cream before, as I just get a little put off by all the BB/ CC hype but I have heard so many good things, so maybe its time I did :) Xx

  8. I'm tempted to try this. I popped into my local Debenhams to get a sample of their tinted moisturiser and saw this advertised. But they didn't have any samples available for either! I hadn't read anything about the BB cream, so your review has been a help, I think I'll go back next week and try get samples again. haha

  13. I tried a Garnier BB Cream which was fairly cheap. It just seemed to be the same as a tinted moisturiser to me, and I moved to mineral powder foundation a few years ago as it works really well for me.
Might try the BB cream again on holiday though.

    Nice blog though!

  19. Wow, it sounds lovely, shame it didn't last through the day though. I've only used one BB cream before and I found it to be really difficult to apply over moisturiser.
