I Went To The Baftas - Charles Worthington BAFTA Reporter

Hello lovelies, so this post is long over due but as most of you know i've been quite ill and I still am, boohoo, so it's taken me quite a while to write this blog post. But, I think this is perfect timing seeing as the Brit Awards are tonight! Let's not take the shine off the BAFTA's, which I was lucky enough to go to on Sunday 10th February.

This trip didn't come cheap, last minute trains to London are starting to drain my bank balance but I think it was more than worth it, not many people get the chance to meet George Clooney! I was told only a few days before the BAFTA's that i'd won Charles Worthington's BAFTA Reporter competition, which meant that I got to get my hair styled in the Savoy hotel by the Charles Worthington team and go to the red carpet. Of course, I was ridiculously excited and I got to take a plus one, so I chose my brother because he helps me with my blog and he means the world to me, so who better to share it with! I just wish I could have taken my mum as well as she would have loved to get pampered. This post is going to be really photo heavy just so that I can show you what my day/night was like!

We arrived in a suite at the Savoy Hotel. The staff at the hotel are the most incredible staff i've ever come across, they're extremely attentive, unjudgemental, professional and charming. They escorted us out of our taxi and kindly took our bags, they have now set the mark for service anywhere. I wish I could afford to stay in the hotel (prices start from around £500 per night for the cheapest room). Charles Worthington had a suite in the Savoy along the same corridor as the likes of Aspray, Lancome and more. The suite was absolutely gorgeous with a view of the river Thames and the London eye. The decor inside was to die for, including the most beautiful black and white marble tiles and gorgeous flowers. Me and my brother were so excited to be sharing this suite with celebrities for the day, the likes of Sex In The City's Sarah Jessica Parker may I add!

After sipping champagne it was time to get my hair styled, i've got to say that the lady who styled my hair was the nicest person to me throughout my experience. (She even gave me her umbrella when she realised how bad the weather was) She didn't judge me and she remained professional throughout my experience. I had no idea how I wanted my hair but I thought i'd leave it in her hands. I absolutely loved the finished result, it's such a shame that the rain ruined it but she did it beautifully.

My gorgeous (even if I do say so myself) BeautyWorks extensions were complimented over and over by the stylist, I actually loved the way she curled them, i'm not sure what curlers she used but it was a barrel curler which made curling look so easy. She said because I had so much hair that she would take the underneath section and plait it under my hair. She then tied it around to create a pony tail but she brushed all of the curls to make them loose. I personally don't think I suit my hair like this from the front, but from the back it is a stunning look. I think it's just because i'm not confident with my face.

I wish I could talk to you about my make up but I didn't even have time to re-apply it and I didn't end up getting it done by Lancome as the women just sort of stared at me as if I was invisible (i've had better customer service in McDonalds) so instead I just went to the red carpet with the same make up on that i'd been wearing since about 6am. Boo. However, one of the most exciting parts of the day was meeting the incredible YouTuber Tanya Burr in the Charles Worthington Suite. I noticed that it was her and had a really long chat with her, she was so down to Earth and I really love her make up tutorials, so it was great to meet such a highly acclaimed super-blogger and vlogger!

I checked with the Charles Worthington team before hand whether I should wear a dress or not and they assured me that everyone would be dressed up...big mistake it was snowing heavily and most people were dressed down...I think they forgot to check the weather, I was freezing! Nevertheless, it was amazing to get to wear a beautiful dress by SerinaSophie, such a beautiful brand. This particular dress is very similar to an Ellie Saab dress but for a fraction of the price. I would never have chosen to wear green sequins but I do feel that it complimented my hair and I did get a lot of compliments about the dress. The way that it falls on the floor is incredible and I really did feel like a princess in it, it's the most beautiful dress that I have ever worn.
If you can ignore how horrendous my make up looks, I think you'll be able to appreciate how simple and classy this dress is. It was so difficult to choose a dress from their amazing collection.

Below you can see where I was stood, I was practically on the red carpet as the stars came past. Opposite me was Dermot O'leary and other famous tv presenters, Daybreak TV, CNN News,BBC and more media industries, this was great for me as a budding media student, hopefully i'll be there one day taking Dermot's job. Standing in our box was exciting at first but obviously as the rain fell it really did get me down and after waiting for over three hours I was told by a paramedic that he thought i'd got mild hypothermia, of course no one can do anything about the weather, I just wish I was told to dress more appropriately.

It was incredible to see such famous faces walk past me and stop and talk to me, these included George Clooney, Hugh Jackman, Bradley Cooper and more. Unfortunately, I was just so cold by the end of it that I wasn't even phased by them. You can see some of the incredible footage that my brother got of them on my video below, we included a question about the BAFTAs:

Overall, this was an incredible opportunity that most people will never ever get the chance to experience, I am extremely grateful that I was able to get my hair styled in the Savoy hotel by such a wonderful hair dresser and be treated like a star for the first part of my experience. Meeting Tanya Burr really did make the experience worthwhile, as she is someone that I and many other bloggers aspire to be like, she is a genuine nice girl who wouldn't say a bad word about anyone, I feel honoured to have had such a long and warm chat with her. Meeting the likes of George Clooney is of course beyond anyones dreams and this again, made the whole experience amazing again. One really important thing that I took from the BAFTA's though is not to judge, anyone at all. If someone like George Clooney took the time out of his day to talk to me, then it goes to show that being judgemental isn't a good thing. This whole experience has motivated me to succeed further in life. Lets hope that tonight, it's sunny for the Brit awards!

P.S - Here's a cheeky shot of the moment George asked me to be his wife.

  3. This was such a fun read!! How exciting this all must have been for you :) But why are you worried about people judging you? Has something happened before?

I can't believe that Lancome person ignored you! Sometimes I seriously question how these people get work. So rude!

Anyway, your face is beautiful, and I think the hair and dress are gorgeous! You look stunning. :)
