Hello everyone, so I think it’s time for a cheeky little make up review, and who better to bring one to us than the lovely Laura from www.secretdiaryofafashionjournalist.com. Whilst I am a lipstick wearer myself, I always play it safe and wear my Mac myth lipstick, a really nude foundation-coloured colour and actually, Mac’s best seller. If I’m wearing an all black outfit, I’ll sometimes stray and wear my pink MAC niki minaj lipstick, but, it really does scare me and I do tend to play it safe when it comes to the lip area, so, I’ll hand you over to the expert herself, here’s Laura:
‘I attended Lydia Bright’s press launch for her new clothing line last week, and I couldn’t stop staring at her lips. She was wearing the most vivid shade of fuchsia I had ever seen, and I made it my mission to find out what it was. I tweeted make up artist to the stars Lindsey Harrison who told me the lipstick in question was in fact MAC’s ‘Show Orchid’ and I decided I had to get my hands on it, especially as I had heard Cheryl Cole is also a fan of this shade.
Show Orchid is a MAC pro product, which means you sadly can’t get it online, nor can you get it from regular MAC counters; it has to be purchased from a Pro store. Bloody typical! Luckily I was passing Carnaby Street the other day, and there is a pro store there, so I swiftly went in and purchased this bad boy.
I adore this shade. Although I think in the bullet it is incredibly misleading; it looks like a dark pink, but Id actually go as far to say the true shade is neon pink, quite similar to MAC’s Candy Yum Yum in fact.
It’s a cool, blue- toned fuchsia pink, which results in making your teeth appear so white they almost glisten. This hot pink, amplified crème finish is so opaque, and applies incredibly smoothly. For such a vividly pigmented shade it doesn’t bleed at all; which is an added bonus. It does get everywhere though; so Id recommend looking in the mirror when you apply it! It’s long lasting too. I adore this shade, but find it’s a tad too intense for the day time- but would look incredibly for a night out for a bold, statement look.
What do you think of this shade ?
Lots of Love,
