I feel like i've ticked something off my 'things to do before I die' list in going into this beautiful shop. What a sad sad girl, I need to get a life really, but hey, the shop is full of sparkly lingerie, it's bright pink AND there are huge velvet sofas everywhere - sorry but what girl wouldn't love it? Haha, talk about conforming to stereotypes, which I try to avoid, but with this shop it is unavoidable; it's genuinley like heaven for girls, I get beyond happy when I walk into the shop, it just uplifts my mood. If you are in a bad mood, I suggest you walk into the nearest Victoria's Secret store, it really is true; 'Shopping is better than therapy', and this kind of retail therapy is really quite soothing. If I could be a model for a day, which model would I be? I'd be a Victoria's Secret Angel of course (have you seen these women!?!)
The argument of perfection.
No wonder there is a huge debate in the media about 'perfect' girls being plastered all over the world, I can understand how these girls make some girls feel ugly. However, it's good to remember that they probably spend thousands on their appearances and in real life, we just don't have the time or the budget to look that good, (or the air brushing tools.)
Now, if you haven't seen these 'Angels' where have you been? Do not fear as I'm about to spam your head with idealistic photos of 'perfect' girls - I hate been sucked in by all the media jargon of what a 'perfect' girl is, as perfect is different in everyones opinion, but I just HAD to share my admiration for these beautiful models (and I am merely voeur, I am not a lesbian, I just appreciate beautiful women) I sound like such a creep.. but I do think it's a fact that women prefer to look at other women, they give us inspiration and many tips for our own appearances.
IT'S A PINK THING.
The items in Victoria's Secret are amazing, if sparkly pink bra's don't do it for you, the knickers are full on french knickers and oh so pretty. Unfortunately, in the Stratford store they don't sell their 'PINK' brand (WHY I ASK?!), I have no idea why, but I have been told that the new Bond Street store in London will have a full floor of the Pink brand. I actually want to buy the whole of PINK for University, it's so chilled, it's like Abercrombie but a bit more preppy/girlie I suppose? It is VERY American, and I fear that I will look slightly out of place in my city wearing these bursting with life colours and preppy slogans, but I really don't care, I just want them to lounge in, as items that I could wear to the gym, (or to the supermarket) funnily enough, these kind of items actually motivate me to exercise, I can pretend that I'm in a music video.
I feel like I should take a trip to New York City simply to buy the cheap Victoria's Secret as it is extremely over priced here in London, but apparently half the price in the USA?! For some strange reason, there is no date for the Bond Street opening store anywhere on the internet, (believe me, I have scoured Google) I just hope that it opens it's big pink doors before I go back to my home city, otherwise I will be pretty unfulfilled and it would be a tragic end to a phenomenal trip.
If haven't you read my Zaggora hot pant gym inspiration post, you can read it here'Body Inspiration Tips', I just wish that I included the VS models in my 'inspirational' body people, If you have read it, you will know that before I go to the gym, I always have an image in my head of what body I want to achieve, I always set myself a goal like this, it gets me through horrible gym sessions.
Since visiting Victoria's Secret I have realised that I want their bodies! If photographs of these girls don't motivate you to go to the gym, I'm not sure what would. Now, getting this body is probably impossible, and very airbrushed but I suppose it doesn't matter as long as it's a 'fitspiration' to use at the gym. They probably are a tiny bit too skinny, but I think they are perfectly toned and definately something I would like to aim for, I wouldn't complain if I had their body. Of course this varies from person to person as everyone aims for different body shapes which is great. I do think that these girls are like real life barbies. I just think that they are so glamorous, that they are almost super human, they really do make me want to get fit and healthy though, which I suppose is a good thing, I will be using them to inspire me in the run up to Christmas.
Make up, make up, make up.
Another thing which I absolutely ADORE about the VS girls is their make up. It is always immaculate. As you can see in every single photograph, it is perfect. Okay, sometimes it is a little bit over the top, but I suppose for a night out that is okay? I love the 'pop' bright colour lipsticks that the girls so elegantly pull off. But also, It is their eye make up which gets me every time. I do actually love it when they just have neutral make up on though, they look so naturally pretty and their jaw lines are always perfect. The girls hair is always perfectly groomed, full of body and shiny, they actually make me want to take hours on my appearance aha! I do think these angels are superhuman.
Luckily for us girlies, Victoria's Secret actually sell make up products in their store. Now, I haven't tried them all, as strictly speaking the shop is a lingerie and lounge wear shop, so why would their make up be any good? On a lot of photos i've seen the girls using MAC make up, which I can tell ,as it looks like MAC. But, lucky for me I decided to try the VS face setting primer which is actually amazing. I think next time I go to MAC I am going to take a photograph of one of the VS girls and just ask the make up artist to sell me the make up that would produce her 'look'. From looking briefly, it seems to me that Mac's baby pink lip glosses would be good, and if I knew how to contour on my cheeks that would help,as the models look like most of the make up is focused on their cheeks and that is what really makes their face look so good.
I really wanted to treat myself to a make up item from VS, they did do a huge mascara which looked really good (from the packaging anyway!), it looked similar to Benefit's Badgal in terms of what it said it did etc, but I think it was £18.00, which I didn't want to pay when the shop isn't a make up store. I settled for the Face Prime, because I am always open to trying new primers and the fact that it doubles up as a make up setter is amazing. I've heard of girls using hair spray to set their make uo before, which surely can't be hygenic or good for your skin? I've never actually seen any make up setting sprays in the shops before, so was super excited when I saw this in VS. If only it made my skin look as flawless as the beautiful blonde girl on the photograph above. I feel like I should go back and just buy all the products, simply because the packaging is so pretty and girlie.
2in1 Make up product review.
At £11.00 this product is actually quite a steal. It is quite a small bottle, but it isn't too small, at all, there is so much liquid in it that I don't think I will EVER have to buy a new bottle, you use so little on your face. I am not used to using a spray on primer, I like to use moisturising primers, so i'm not sure how this works, all I do know is that after a 12 hour shift, I have not had to reapply my make up. Usually, I always reapply my make up at lunch time, but no longer do I need to. It just stops the make up from sliding off your face. I want to try some more of their products now. It would be great to use when travelling, you could just spritz it over your make up when you're feeling tired. I also like the packaging and it just looks so pretty in your make up bag. I wonder if the VS angels use it? I doubt it, but it is a product that I would recommend.
Yeah so you could say that I am a little bit obsessed with the VS Angels, I suppose they're not bad image idols to have though are they? Now I want to get my hair done, my eye brows done and go to the gym. Life isn't about looking glamorous all the time, whatsoever, but I suppose it's a good get away from the stresses of every day life admiring these beautiful models.
Who is your 'fitspiration'? Who would you be for the day?
